Interest in the construction of private homes has recently increased significantly. Many people buy land outside the city for this purpose. They are not always ideal for the construction of buildings. It often happens that before the start of construction it is necessary to carry out some preparatory work.
Most often, such a preparation includes a
drainage system. If the soil in the acquired area is moist, that is, the groundwater is too high, the owner will have to lower their level. Such a
drainage system is called linear, deep. For its installation, you need to know how to properly mount and apply various elements of the drainage system, such as pipes,
wells, drainage gratings, etc., and also be able to correctly plan their location.
The second type of drainage - point - is used in almost any area, even dry. Everyone is familiar with this type of drainage. Everyone probably saw the drainpipes - an integral attribute of multi-storey buildings. The surface spot drainage system is used to drain rain and melt water from the walls and the foundation of the house. For its installation, a private homeowner will need elements such as gutters, pipes, drainage grills, various fasteners. Often these two types of drainage are arranged simultaneously.
Drainage gratings are used both for deep drainage and point drainage. Their main purpose is to protect hatches, wells, and water collectors from dirt, leaves, etc. They perform another useful function - they protect pedestrians from injury, as well as the elements of the drainage system themselves from damage, for example, by transport.
Modern industry produces a huge number of drainage grates of various types, for any purpose and from many different materials. The drainage grate should have first of all such quality as high strength.
This condition is especially important when using this element in places with increased load. For example, in parking lots, freeways. But even in quiet places, for example, in parks and squares, gratings should reliably close hatches and wells.
They are usually made of metal. According to European standards, gratings according to the permissible load are divided into 6 classes. Classes are denoted by the letters of the Latin alphabet from "A" to "F". Consider the main types of gratings.
- Made of galvanized and stainless steel. They are very durable, hygienic, as they are easy to clean and corrosion resistant.
- Copper and brass drainage grates. Their advantages are the same as those of steel.
- Cast iron grates. They are often made for wells of custom sizes. The material can be either gray or ductile iron. The advantage of ductile iron grids is that they can be divided into classes.
In addition to gratings, plastic storm water inlets are produced to protect the elements of the drainage system . They are attached to the pipes separately and have such a structural element as a waste basket. They are installed under the drainpipes. Grids for storm water inlets can be purchased separately.
