Nowadays, there are quite a few players who prefer single-player projects to multi-player battles. This is easily explained, because it’s much more interesting to face off not with “artificial intelligence”, but with a living opponent. Even more interesting if you know your opponents in real life.
Agree that fighting in a virtual battle with your own friend is much more interesting than engaging in skirmishes with those you have never seen. To fulfill your dream, you and your friends need to install the wonderful Hamachi program on your computers.
What is it and what is it for?
This is a great application designed to create a virtual local area network. Simply put, it can create the same network that you could do as a child by connecting a couple of computers in neighboring rooms. Only here they can be located at least at different ends of the globe.
There is no need to talk about the advantages of this approach, because you and your friends will easily play old games that do not support connecting via the Internet (in the years of their creation it was simply not common), but can provide multiplayer via a standard local area network.
So how to use Hamachi? You will learn about this by reading our article. Important! Download and install the program in its latest version in advance, since in each new release, programmers find and correct errors that can cause crashes and freezes. We remind you that each player must install the application.
Create a local network
Before using Hamachi, you should agree in advance on who exactly creates the network. All other users will connect to it.
After you settle these questions, click on the “Create a Network” button. Next, select the menu item "Create a new network." First come up with some kind of intelligible and readable name (in Latin letters), and then enter any password whose length will be more than three characters.
Do it reliable? Despite the fact that the Hamachi program is well protected, and until now there was no information about hacking such local networks, it is better to play it safe.
After entering the name and password, click the "Create" button. The program will mount a new local network, the name of which will appear in a window with a list of all available connections. All. Nothing more will be required of you except to provide the name and password of the network to another player.
How to connect to the second participant?
He will have to enter the necessary data in the appropriate field in the program. If the connection process is successful, the IP address of the second connected player will appear under the network name in the connection window.
Accordingly, before using Hamachi for Minecraft, your opponent will have to enter the local network address that you will see in your game settings. As a rule, the connection speed allows you to comfortably plunge into the virtual world, since its own application protocol provides the possibility of a sufficiently high-quality connection in almost any environment.
How do you connect to an existing network?
Now let's see how you connect to the network that your game partner has created. Again, click on the "Create Network" button, and then select the "Enter an existing network" item.
Before that, you need to contact the second player and find out from him the name of the network and the password that he invented for her. Enter the data in the appropriate fields, and then click the "Login" button. After that, you can start the game and enjoy the match with a live opponent!
Some notes
Since using Hamachi is quite simple, many inexperienced players make a lot of mistakes without reading even the most basic instructions. As a result - the lack of connection and the mass of damaged nerves. To prevent this from happening with you, we advise you to read some of our tips that will make the game more enjoyable and productive.
So, you can firmly be sure of a successful connection if a large green dot appears next to the player’s name. If this same point blinks, then at this time the program tries to establish a connection.
In the case when the green connection indicator is surrounded by a yellow halo, this indicates that data is being exchanged between the two computers in the "local" network. When this indicator is all yellow, the program reports that the connection attempt failed.
When this happens, the application tries to establish a connection not directly, but through its own servers. If this succeeds, a blue down arrow will appear next to the username . Unfortunately, in this case one should not even dream of a normal game, since the response time and connections will be unforgivably large.
What may be causing connection problems?
Before playing through Hamachi, it does not hurt to familiarize yourself with the settings of your firewall. We will not be able to provide all the necessary information on the settings of all types of such programs (due to their multiplicity) as part of a short article, but we can advise you to issue full permissions to use the Internet for Hamachi.
If you understand something in the configuration of your
firewall, we advise you to
open ports 12975 and 32976. They are used for the application to work, so unlocking them ensures its operability. In a word, before using Hamachi, we strongly recommend that you understand the settings of your security software! Subsequently there will be fewer problems.
In addition, test the speed of your connection on some third-party server. The provider may promise you 6 Mb / s, but in fact it may turn out that the connection does not even reach 512 kb / s. Naturally, such a speed is not enough even for a real local network, not to mention its imitation.
Secondly, once again make sure that the versions of the program that are used by you and your opponent are identical. Since you can use the Hamachi program with complete comfort only if the release of the application is completely identical, the difference in versions can be fatal due to some bugs that have not yet been "caught" by the developers.
