Childhood and school years
Alexey Yuryevich Pekhov was born in Moscow on March 30, 1978. He spent his childhood in Elektrostal; Alexey calls it the city of his childhood. From an early age, the boy had an unusual craving for adventure. At the age of three, he escaped from his grandfather, following his cunning plan. And, having stomped through the whole city, he came to work with his mother, which plunged her into a state of shock. Alexey recalls that all the time he found a way to “surprise” his parents.
At the age of four, he painted wallpapers with felt-tip pens, at the age of five he made a “solemn oath” not to eat semolina and periodically organized strikes in the kindergarten about this. At the age of seven he went to first grade in the city of Balashikha. He came up with the name Natalia for the younger sister, born in the same year. At eight years old, he repeated the escape (this time from his grandmother) in order to explore armored cars at the railway station, having walked four kilometers to it.
Education and career
He graduated from high school successfully, repeatedly won in biology Olympiads, for which he received diplomas. Since Alexei’s parents were dentists, after graduation he did not hesitate for a long time: he entered the medical-dental university. Not enrolling in the first year, he studied at the preparatory department and a year later became a student.
The institute graduated almost with honors, received a diploma and entered the residency, then graduate school with a degree in orthodontics. Now Pekhov Alexey Yuryevich successfully combines both work and creativity. Work as a doctor takes a lot of time, but in the works, according to the writer, his wife helps him.
Creative duet
He met his future wife at the RosCon fiction festival and revealed the “terrible secret”: it turns out that they all these years lived on the same street, in neighboring houses. In 2004, Pekhov Alexey Yurievich married, his wife Elena also writes fantasy. They had a great creative duet.
According to the writer himself, in her person he found reliable support: both an assistant, and a co-author, and an editor, and a friend. Elena is his first reader and invaluable adviser on many issues. Alexey is interested in photography and loves to travel wild.
He is glad that the family shares his hobbies. They make a lot of impressions from each trip, making up a rich "cultural" program, take many photos to remember more. After all, each city has its own face, and they are all different, like those of people who are found in life.

Pekhov Aleksey Yurievich knows that traveling provides an opportunity not only to have a fun rest, but also bring a lot of new impressions. Every detail can cause the birth of a new plot or image. Different countries, people's attitudes completely change the perception of life and, according to the author, are reflected in his books.
He likes to read, read a lot of historical and adventure books. From childhood I was read by fantastic books. He started writing at school, writing interesting tales and fantastic stories for friends. But in his last year at the university he seriously approached his passion.
He started writing a book, put the first chapter on the net and forgot to think about it. I was very surprised when I found a letter in the mail in which there was a proposal for cooperation. He sent the first part of the cycle to the publishing house, and a few days later he was informed that they agreed to accept the manuscript. And so it all began.
Prizes and awards
Pekhov Alexey Yuryevich began to write books since 2001. In 2002 - laureate of the award “Sword without a name” for the fantastic debut of the year - “Sneaking in the Shadow”. The following year he was awarded the Silver Caduceus Prize for the trilogy The Chronicles of Siala. In 2004, the book “Under the Sign of Manticore” was recognized as the best novel of the year. In 2006 there was the Silver Caduceus Award for the tetralogy Wind and Sparks, as well as the novels The Wormwood Wind and The Wind Searchers.
The author is Alexei Pekhov, a member of the Union of Russian Writers and a member of SFWA (Association of Science Fiction Writers of America). In 2011, he was awaited by the prestigious DGLA award for the first book of the Chronicle, in 2012 the second book hit the long list.
