Growing anemone is a fun experience

Despite the beauty of this plant and the variety of colors, growing anemones is not yet widespread in our flower gardens. Overseas, breeders have been engaged in breeding more and more new varieties of these beautiful flowers for many years, since they are a real decoration of any site. Anemone (anemone) - an original perennial belonging to the Lyutikov family (genus Anemon). At the moment, there are about 100 species.

Growing anemone
Anemones are conventionally divided into autumn and spring. The first include rhizome perennials that bloom in the summer and bloom until September. The height of the flower stalks of these plants varies between 50-120 cm. Tuberous anemones, which bloom in the spring and have a small height, are referred to spring ones.

Growing anemone is a grateful activity, because this perennial herbaceous plant multiplies quite quickly and looks great next to most plants intended for growing in flower beds. Anemones propagate by dividing rhizomes or tubers. Spring anemone tubers are planted in autumn, after soaking them for a day. The embedment depth is 4-5 cm. The spring rhizome of autumn anemones dug in the spring is cut into 4-5 cm pieces. Each of them should have a healthy kidney. Rhizomes are planted horizontally to a depth of 5-6 cm. Anemone cultivation has one drawback - they grow quite slowly and reach maturity after 3 years. But what a beauty it is!

Species anemones grown from seeds are easily propagated by sowing in open ground. From 4 to 5 years pass until full maturity of such plants. Young plants can be replanted throughout the entire vegetative period, but no later than September. In early spring, shoots with beautifully dissected leaves appear, which are covered with bright flowers (semi-double, simple, double) of various colors.

Anemone (Care)
Today, the classification of anemone is a certain difficulty, since many of its hybrids and varieties come from different species. Most of these plants come from Japanese anemones, which are a herbaceous plant up to 120 cm tall. It has pubescent peduncles with flowers up to 8 cm in diameter. On one stalk there can be up to 15 buds. Japanese anemone blooms in August, and its flowering continues until October. Most often, pink, red-violet and silver-pink varieties of this species are found. Hybrid anemone, the care of which is no different from the care of other species of this plant, has even larger bushes with erect peduncles, each of which can have up to 20 flowers with a diameter of up to 9 cm. They also bloom from August to September. Most varieties of this species have semi-double flowers. Another species - felt anemone - is distinguished by its winter hardiness and silvery pubescence of the stem.
Anemones (growing)

Despite the fact that growing anemone is a simple task, they need to be protected from excessive soil moisture. Most often, these flowers simply wither with an excess of moisture (especially in the cold season). The best place for planting anemone is semi-shady places, because in open areas they are smaller and require more moisture. With a lack of sunlight, these flowers are very elongated and bloom poorly. Anemones, the cultivation of which should be carried out on loose and well-drained soils, will delight for many years with their beautiful flowers and decorative foliage. Growing anemones is a fairly simple matter, since they do not need support, rarely get sick and are practically not damaged by pests. This plant grows every year, so weeds rarely grow under it. Anemones are unpretentious plants, but they are responsive to fertilizers.
