The delightful and tender princess of indoor floriculture is rightfully recognized as the ottambul violet, or senpolia, whose cultural species today number more than three thousand. They are classified based on the characteristics of the shapes of rosettes and flowers. There are groups of fantasy, classic, star-shaped and bordered senpolia.
The result of a tremendous selection work was the breeding of many surprisingly beautiful varieties, one of which is the Saint Amadeus saint, which strikes with exquisite sophistication and makes one recall the sublime works of the great musician. Let's talk about this fluffy beauty and the features of her cultivation.
Grade description
Amadeus violet is a group of red terry senpole, authored by Konstantin Morev, a talented breeder who turned a fascinating hobby into a productive activity.
Violets of this variety are unusually beautiful, have even proportional pubescent leaves of a juicy green color and a well-developed rosette. Large double flowers with clear chopped edges are trimmed with a wide bright white stripe. The maximally bloomed senpolia bud further increases the color saturation of the petals.
The average size of flowers is up to 6 cm in diameter. The peculiarity possessed by the variety of violets "Amadeus" is the first inflorescence is absolutely not terry, but very large. It is noticeably more than the colors following it, and is painted in the same crimson and purple shades with a snow-white border on the edge. Unusually wide, but in harmony with the size of the flowers, leaves give a special decorative effect to a flowering outlet.
Blooming Amadeus
Senpolias of this group bloom quite often. With proper care and nutrition, the intervals between flowering do not exceed one month, of course, without taking into account the time required for the plant for a biologically justified period of rest. It is noticed that the color of the plantโs flowers varies depending on the time of the year: in winter, there are more snow-white tones in the inflorescence, in summer, not by example, less.
How to grow violets?
Despite the huge number of varieties and species of senpolia, care for them equally. The only thing that needs to be taken into account when caring for the Amadeus violet is placing the flower in a properly lit place, emphasizing the advantages of the variety and creating comfortable conditions for successful development.

All types of violets are light and heat-loving. The lack of lighting has a detrimental effect on the plant: the leaf stalk lengthens, violating the overall decorativeness of the outlet, and the leaves turn pale and stretch. High-quality light contributes to the laying of buds and affects the flowering time, but it is impossible to place the senpolia on a sun-drenched window sill, as the plant will get burns and die. Illuminated windows facing southwest, east and even north with daily sliding suns are good options for the productive existence of these moving cultures. In winter, plants can be additionally highlighted, prolonging the light regime. The air temperature of a normal room is quite suitable for all kinds of senpolis, but sudden changes in temperature and drafts can negate all efforts - the violet will stop growing.
Watering rules dictated by Amadeus
Violet is fundamental in matters of moisturizing. She does not like either excessive moisture, or drying out the surface of the soil, or getting water on sockets, leaves, and flowers, since all plant tissues are vulnerable and quickly rot. Therefore, gardeners advise irrigation method "in the pan." Spend it like this: a container with violet is placed in a pan half filled with water, keeping it for 20-30 minutes, and the rest of the moisture must be removed, since stagnation of water will not allow the roots to fully breathe.
Senpolias do not spray, but maintain a sufficiently high air humidity, which is achieved by installing containers with wet pebbles next to the plant or household humidifiers. The leaves of the plant also need care. Periodically, they are wiped with a soft flannel slightly moistened with water, cleaning them of dust and giving the violet the opportunity to fully breathe and successfully form.
Landing
It is more convenient to plant "Amadeus" in a special soil for senpolia sold in stores, but it is not difficult and independently to prepare a suitable mixture of 3 parts of garden soil and 1 part of vermiculite. The use of drainage is another condition for the proper planting of a plant such as Amadeus. The violet will develop well, without fear of stagnation of water, the excess of which will be drained by the drainage.
Senpolia blooms better in a tight container, this is due to their biological characteristics: all types of violets have a very small root system, but with an impressive size of the pot, it begins to develop, using the strength of the plant and settling in the space of the container, and only then blooms. When choosing a container for a plant, you should focus on the size of the outlets: its diameter is one third of the transplanted outlet.
Transplantation and reproduction
Senpolies do not grow with age, maintaining the size of the outlet provided for by the view, so you should not change the container to a more spacious one. It is important only to periodically update the soil in the culture, which is done approximately once a year, removing at the same time weak leaves and rotted roots.
"Amadeus" perfectly propagated by cuttings. This is the simplest, most common and effective way, for which a strong sheet from the middle of the outlet, cut at an acute angle at the very base, is suitable. The shear area plays a huge role - the larger it is, the more the leaf will release roots and new outlets.
Leaves-cuttings are placed in water, and after 2-3 weeks, roots grow on them. If you keep the cuttings in water for 1.5-2 months, then in addition to the roots, small new leafy rosettes will appear on them, perfectly rooted in light soil. They are planted, obeying the basic rule - do not cover the leaves with earth, covering only the roots with it. The mother sheet is carefully cut off when it becomes clear that the young outlet has taken root successfully.
Top dressing
Fertilize the soil under the senpolia of any kind. Amadeus is no exception. Violet should receive a full complex nutrition exclusively in the active period: in a quiet time, the plant is not fed, giving the opportunity to relax and restore strength, without being distracted by the processing of nutrients.
Diseases and their elimination
Most often, the problems of the senpolia arise due to non-compliance with the rules of care. Dry or excessively humid indoor air, direct sunlight, lack of light and improper watering can create the prerequisites for the occurrence of diseases. This applies to all varieties of senpolis, in particular, and to such a variety as "Amadeus".
Violet suffers from constant excessive moisture and maintenance in a room with low temperatures. The consequences of this may be gray rot or fusarium. Plants refuse to bloom, as a rule, not because of illnesses - often the cause is an oversized pot or a deep planting. To correct the situation, transplanting the plant into fresh soil and clearly adhering to the care rules that the plant requires will help.
Improper care sometimes provokes the occurrence of infections, which are very difficult to fight. Domestic preparations, for example, Fitoverm or Fundazol, will help in this case.
So, after covering the main stages of caring for the senpolis, we tried to answer the question of how to grow violets.
