Wrap with a wrap: model description, step by step instructions for sewing, combination, photo

What is the most comfortable home clothing? Of course, this is a bathrobe, it is so different that it can satisfy the tastes of anyone. But what if you try to sew it at home? How to do it right and what to pay attention to, this article will tell.

Wrap robe - why is it so called

Probably, many (both men and women) have a bathrobe. There are many models, but the most common is a bathrobe with a smell. And it’s called so, because one half of the dressing gown is smacked onto the other. Sometimes a thin belt is provided inside, which allows the bathrobe not to β€œdiverge”. As a rule, this applies to thin women's robes. Outside there is a belt thicker.

This model is very light and comfortable to wear: you can quickly put on a bathrobe if you need to go out somewhere. Also, such a style is considered the best for bathrobes. The fabric from which the dressing gowns are sewn with a smell can be very diverse. It can be either thin silk or terry, short or long, with a hood and without, with different lengths of sleeves. It all depends on the purpose of use: beauty or warmth and comfort.

One of the varieties of a dressing gown with a smell is kimono. Its feature is the presence of a wide sleeve three quarters long.

If you really want to sew yourself

You can buy a bathrobe in any clothing store, but it is much more interesting to sew it yourself. In addition, it can be a great gift for a friend or soulmate. Sewing it yourself is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance, it will succeed even for those who do not have the seamstress talent.

First of all, you need to decide on the fabric. Tip: for those who are not very familiar with sewing, it is better to opt for simple fabrics (cotton, flannel, terry cloth), it is better to leave silk to experienced seamstresses. The amount of material required will depend on the size of the future gown, its length.

For sewing, you must perform the following measurements:

Bathrobe Measures
  • Chest girth - measured at the highest points of the chest and shoulder blades.
  • Hips - Measurements are taken over the widest part of the hips. If there is a protruding abdomen, then consider it.
  • Length to the front waist - the distance from the shoulder through the chest to the waist.
  • The length from her back is from the shoulder through the shoulder blade to the waist.
  • Length from waist down - distance to the desired length.
  • Sleeve length - optional.

You can sew a dressing gown both with the help of a pattern, and without it. The choice depends on the desire. Moreover, these measurements must be taken for both sewing options.

With or without a pattern

Sewing can be done in two ways: using a pattern and without it. A dressing gown pattern with a smell is done on paper, tracing paper, cardboard, fabric. This method is more accurate, and it is also possible to correct the deficiencies that have arisen. A method without a pattern is faster, but less accurate. All marks are made directly on the fabric. You need to work as carefully as possible, since it will be difficult to fix errors.

One of the easiest sewing options involves the following steps. Here you can do without a pattern, however, those who wish can use it:

1) First, the fabric is folded in half, so you get two halves of the future gown. As a result, we get the middle of the front.

2) The largest girth (chest or hips) is taken, 10 cm is added to the value, the obtained value is divided in half, postponed from the fold, from which it is then necessary to draw a straight line.

For example, the hip circumference is 100 cm, we add 10 cm, we get 110/2 = 55 cm. This value is postponed.

3) From the top it is necessary to step back 1.5-2 cm for the seam. Then, down the marked line, the length to the waist is measured and a perpendicular strip is drawn, which will be its line.

4) Next, the side height is measured from this line.

5) The width of the pattern is divided in half. For the front, 2 cm is added, and for the back it is subtracted. From the line obtained in the first step, it is necessary to postpone the width of the front part.

6) From the waistline down, the length to the waist at the back is laid back.

7) For the neck, note a depth of 3-5 cm and 8-11 cm in width.

8) The shoulder length is measured from the notch.

9) From the shoulder line, the armhole line for the back is perpendicularly marked.

10) At the last step, you need to connect the neck with the waist line, from which you need to mark the line down, taking it a little to the side.

In addition to the pattern, you will also need three strips 1.5 m long and 10 cm wide.

There is no need to be afraid of what might not work out, in fact, you just need to get to work, as it turns out that making a dressing gown with a smell with your own hands is quite simple and clear. When all the marks are made, the details are prepared, you can proceed to the most interesting part - sewing. It is necessary to connect all parts, sweep them, iron and process.
