There is a flower in nature that attracts all needlewomen! It can be large and decorative, yellow and orange, lush and single-tiered. This mysterious flower is called a sunflower. You can embroider paintings from satin ribbons with your own hands , make jewelry for hair, brooches, headbands, necklaces, create topiary in combination with other material. We begin to consider a master class with embroidery of sunflower.
Preparation for embroidery
Depending on the size of the picture or panel, select the width of the satin ribbons. For large flowers, ribbons 1, 2, 3 centimeters wide are suitable, and for small sunflowers, look for material up to seven millimeters.
For a picture, you can print a print with flowers, then you will embroider the foreground. If this is not possible, then draw the “sun” on the fabric - it will be a sunflower. From satin ribbons with your own hands on the drawn rays embroider the petals. To convey the tilt of the flower, you need to keep a photo of sunflowers in front of your eyes. Turning the ribbon in different directions, give the desired shape, and fix this position with sewing threads to the tone of the satin ribbon.
To make the picture rich and diverse, buy a yellow, black and green ribbon in different shades. Or take a white ribbon (not artificial), dye it with acrylic paints like melange yarn, and dry in the microwave. The segments should not be more than thirty centimeters, and put a glass of water on a plate with ribbons to comply with safety precautions.
Ribbon embroidery: sunflowers
Please note that the “lower layers” are embroidered first, then the foreground. That is, if the petals are on the leaves, then first embroider with a green ribbon, and then take the yellow one. Also for the lower petals take dark segments, and for the upper - bright colors. Before work, cut the tape obliquely to fit into the needle.
Next, fold the other end several times into a “square”, drag the needle through the middle, and a nodule is formed. Now, from the outer edge of the circle, drag the tape from the inside to the face. Using your fingers, give the shape of a petal (use a needle from the inside out back and forth), closing the drawn ray and straightening the ribbon.
As soon as you decide on the inclination, hold the tape with one hand so as not to disturb the shape, with the other, pierce the edge of the tape with a needle. Carefully drag it to the wrong side, pull by the desired edge to secure the tilt. Next, move on to the next petal. So embroider the entire lower layer of the flower, the petals can be spaced apart.
Continuation of the embroidery workshop
To make a sunflower from satin ribbons with your own hands natural, embroider the second layer with bright yellow ribbons, placing the petals tightly to each other at the base. If the opposite edge of the petals lies on the core, then seeds are first embroidered. They are made in several ways:
- embroider with French knots ;
- sew on beads;
- fold the ribbon in half, string it “forward with a needle”, creating “tubercles”, sew in a circle.
If you need to embroider pollen, then go through the seeds with a narrow (1-3 mm) ribbon or floss, making small French knots with one naviv. For decorative flowers, another embroidery with ribbons is suitable. Sunflowers are created like daisies. Withdraw the needle from the edge of the circle, determine the length of the petal, insert the ribbon near the entry point. Hand hold the loop, and enter the needle at the tip of the petal and fasten it with a stitch.
Next, go to the stem. Usually you sew a tape “forward with a needle”, then wrap the stitches, introducing the needle with a “zigzag”. From the stem, sew the leaves in the same way as the petals. Frame the picture.
Satin Ribbon Sunflower Tree
With your own hands you can create unusual beautiful gifts. For a topiary, you will need a pot, a thick stick, a foam ball, small artificial sunflowers, gypsum, sisal, hotmelt.
Insert the stick into the foam ball, "scrolling" the hole in it. Glue the trunk with a black satin ribbon. Drop the glue into the hole in the ball and insert the stick. Now you start to attach sunflowers from the trunk.
Just cut the stem from the flowers, leaving a tail (2-3 centimeters), drop the glue at the base and “screw” the head. You can leave ponytails of different lengths, forming tiers, you get a lush topiary of satin ribbons.
Put the sunflower in a pot, fill with plaster. Top decorated with sisal and flowers. If you initially glue the tape to the ball and glue it with sunflowers, you get a decorative pendant. Purchased flowers can be replaced with “your own”. That is, make kanzashi-style sunflowers and stick them on a foam base.
Sunflower with coffee
A chic combination gives dark coffee with bright yellow petals. This craft can be done as a topiary or saucer. And if you do not put in a pot, you get a decorative flower.
How to make a sunflower from ribbons:
- cut a cardboard circle to the size of the core of the sunflower;
- stick newspaper "balls" on it, forming a hemisphere;
- tie with threads;
- glue over white paper;
- now attach the coffee beans in 2 layers;
- glue the yellow petals from satin ribbons from the inside;
- then attach green leaves and decorate with a green circle;
- now wrap the trunk, fasten decorative leaves;
- pour gypsum into the pot;
- put a stalk in it;
- glue the sunflower;
- decorate the pot.
Petals in this case can be done in a simple way. Just fold the line in half so that a triangle forms at the top and the ends of the tape overlap at the bottom. And if you stick the grains on a foam ball, then you get a sunflower with a convex core.
Kanzashi Sunflowers
The essence of making any flower is as follows. Leaves with petals are glued to the base, and then fasten the core. So do kanzashi sunflowers from satin ribbons:
- Cut a two-centimeter tape into 6-9-centimeter segments. At the top, cut the corners, forming a triangle or oval, singe on fire. Fold the other edge (add) and also fasten with a flame. It turns out either pointed or oval sunflowers.
- Also cut the tape into long strips. Fasten one end to the face, and the other to the inside, forming an acute angle.
- Fold the ribbon sections with a petal, as described when creating a topiary with coffee.
- You singe a square of a five-centimeter tape. Fold in a triangle, string with a needle, creating folds.
- You make a mini-flower from a five-centimeter tape. From the squares you make either sharp or rounded petals. Such a sunflower is suitable for rings, necklaces, earrings.
Glue two layers of petals staggered onto the base. Glue the black core on top. It can be a satin ribbon, beads, beads, floss, yarn.
Panel
Consider another master class of satin ribbons for the manufacture of panels. Cook kanzashi-style sunflowers of different sizes, shapes, shades. To do this, use tapes of different widths. To make a miniature panel, take a disposable plate and stick sunflowers with leaves and berries on it. Pass the loop, decorate the edge with braid or cord.
For a medium panel, cardboard or fabric is suitable. On cardboard, preschoolers can create compositions from ready-made elements. For example, stick the petals in a circle, and decorate the middle with beads, glass beads or coffee beans. You draw up the work in a frame and hang it on the wall.
And the fabric will allow you to combine kanzashi with embroidery ribbons. To do this, paint the background, mark with a marker dots or lines the location of flowers, leaves, stems. First embroider the stems and leaves, and then glue the sunflowers. You can embroider some of the flowers, and some can be made in the kanzashi style. Place them on a canvas canvas, pull on bamboo sticks and decorate the wall.
Brief Summary
Sunflowers will decorate any craft. If you have never worked with tapes, then choose a small job, and with experience go to the big pictures. Do not try to reproduce the master class from satin ribbons with absolute accuracy, as this material is moody. In each flower production, the ribbon lies in its own way.
