Many Russians who are interested in human evolution know the name of Stanislav Vladimirovich Drobyshevsky. This is a well-known anthropologist and teacher, scientific editor of the educational portal "Anthropogenesis.ru", the author of many textbooks and monographs for students. His life and work will be discussed in the article.

Biography

Stanislav Vladimirovich Drobyshevsky was born in Siberian Chita 07/02/1978 in this city, he spent his childhood. The parents of the future anthropologist, Vladimir Stanislavovich and Lyubov Alekseevna, were graduates of the Faculty of Philosophy of Leningrad State University and worked as teachers at the universities of Chita.

Already at the age of five, Stanislav became interested in the history of the origin of man, was read in the children's book ā€œPaleontology in Picturesā€. During his studies in high school, the boy participated in most competitions and won prizes. In the eleventh grade, he won the regional biology Olympiad, and in fifth Siberia he took fifth place.

In 1995, Drobyshevsky graduated from Chita School No. 12 with a silver medal. And in the same year he went to Moscow to enter Moscow State University. He was taken to the Department of Anthropology, Faculty of Biology. The young man studied well and graduated from high school with the highest mark.

Career

After receiving the diploma, Stanislav Vladimirovich Drobyshevsky continued his studies in postgraduate study at the biology faculty of Moscow State University. In 2002-03 a young anthropologist received a personalized government scholarship. In January 2004 he successfully defended his thesis and became a candidate of biological sciences.

Since December 2003, Stanislav Vladimirovich Drobyshevsky worked as a senior laboratory assistant at the Department of Anthropology at Moscow State University. In August 2005, he was taken as an assistant chair.

Since 2011, Drobyshevsky has become an assistant professor at the Department of Anthropology of the Biological Faculty of Moscow State University, where he currently works.

Scientific activities and publications

Stanislav Vladimirovich is the author of many lecture and training courses on anthropogenesis, anthropology and archeology for students. In addition, he is the author and co-author of a number of articles devoted to the evolution of the brain, analysis of craniology data of fossil hominids, and the development of adaptive types.

In his 2007 monograph, "The Evolution of the Human Brain," the scientist substantiated the theory that the development of the brain of our ancestors was accelerated due to the fact that they switched to meat food.

Archaeological field work

Since 1997, the scientist has been participating in anthropological expeditions and excavations. Stanislav Vladimirovich Drobyshevsky conducts cephalometric, morphometric and morphoscopic examinations of people, is engaged in the initial processing of expeditionary materials. In total, he made measurements and systematized the data of about two thousand modern and fossil skulls.

In 1999, an anthropologist participated in excavations in the Stavropol city of Ipatovo. In 2000, Stanislav Vladimirovich Drobyshevsky was part of a comprehensive expedition under the village of Arkhipo-Osipovka in the Krasnodar Territory.

In 2001-03. participated in the excavation of the Upper Paleolithic and Mesolithic sites in the Moscow region. In 2004-08. He was at the excavations of the ancient Greek Artesian, a hillfort and a necropolis in the Crimea, west of Kerch; Paleolithic parking in Altai, in Denisova Cave; as well as in the Moscow Kremlin, Chobruchi, Veliky Novgorod, Betovo, Voitenki and other places.

In 2010, Stanislav Vladimirovich Drobyshevsky and scientific journalist Alexander Borisovich Sokolov launched a scientific and educational portal dedicated to the popularization of knowledge about the origin and history of man and the refutation of common misconceptions. Anthropogenesis.ru combines the efforts of specialists from various fields of science: genetics, anthropology, archeology, linguistics, paleontology, etc.

The idea to create such a project belongs to Alexander Sokolov, who, in analyzing the information circulating on television and on the Internet, came to the conclusion that very few scientists are engaged in education and are trying to resist the spread of pseudoscientific myths in the network and the media. The journalist asked Drobyshevsky for support, and their joint initiative led to the creation of the Anthropogenesis.ru portal.

There are now about thirty experts and correspondent authors in the project. Since the founding of the portal, Stanislav Vladimirovich has been his permanent scientific editor. He and other enthusiasts urge the public to monitor the quality of information and bear responsibility for the free interpretation of scientific facts and their deliberate distortion for the sake of sensation and financial gain. First of all, this applies to television programs, TV channels and books that claim to be scientific, but in fact have nothing to do with science.

Currently

In addition to editorial activity, the scientist is working on an author's project called ā€œThe Missing Linkā€. This is a series of articles on the tasks, problems and methods of anthropology.

All articles are duplicated by short videos in which Drobyshevsky, using the example of dummies of skeletons and skulls, shows and explains what parts of the skeleton are called, how a person differs from a monkey and how similar to it, what functions of the body are responsible for different parts of the brain, etc. These videos are available on the Youtube channel.

In 2017, based on the author’s project, a two-volume book ā€œThe Missing Linkā€ was released.

Stanislav Vladimirovich Drobyshevsky often speaks on television and radio, is engaged in the popularization of science among people who do not have a special biological education.

As for the personal life of the scientist, in 2006 he married a girl named Inga Masliy. The couple has two children: son Vladimir, born in 2007, and daughter Maria, who was born in 2009.
