At one time, the Fable game became a kind of breath of fresh air for those gamers who appreciated, first of all, freedom of action, choice and movement. This Action with RPG elements has long remained as a classic of open-world games, and to this day is popular among fans of computer games. In 2014, Lionhead Studios released a re-release called Fable Anniversary, the system requirements of which amazed fans as they matched the flagships of that year. So much has changed the favorite project of many gamers? Is it worth it to overpay for a reissue, or return to a verified original?
Key changes to Fable
The developers explained the high system requirements of the Fable Anniversary by the complete modernization of the project both technically and visually. The original The Lost Chapters, developed under the console, was distinguished by somewhat complicated management, because of which negative ratings often appeared. The novelty also received an excellent port on a PC, a modern video sequence and several additional functions, including integration into SmartGlass. The owners of the Xbox 360 also offered a radically redesigned interface and softer optimization. This should also include the XBLA achievement system, a modified save mechanism and a slightly reconstructed design of some objects from in-game content.
Hardware Requirements
Fable Anniversary system requirements include the following elements: graphics card - Nvidia
GeForce GTX 260; processor - Intel Core2 Quad 2.33GHz; DirectX 9.0; Windows 7/8 64bit; RAM is 4 GB or more than 10 Gigabytes of free disk space on the Flash drive. For 2014, such requirements cannot be called too modest. Such "iron" is able to pull the flagships of the game building, released in 2014. Developers from Lionhead Studios note that they completely reworked all the game content for the HD release, and therefore the system requirements of the Fable Anniversary naturally increased. According to the players, the audio and video components really became better, especially taking into account the “antiquity” of the original, however, serious makings for the FPS subsidence during the game process on the average hardware were not identified as of 2014.
Mods and additions
Fable Anniversary system requirements are also dictated, according to the developer, work on add-ons. Among them are Scythe Content Pack, Heroes and Villains Content Pack, and Modding DLC. The latter is available on a free basis and opens up the possibility of using both custom mods and creating your own. The ratings for all Steam add-ons are mixed. Fable Anniversary mods are both cosmetic and more global, directly affecting gameplay or other content. The latter include modifications that add characters and locations. Lionhead Studios noted that they favored modifications and gave their nod to conducting user research on the in-game “game” of the project. The game does not have Russian voice acting, the Fable Anniversary copies the original in this, but craftsmen from the people created their own version here.
The plot and distinguishing features of the project
On the PC, Fable Anniversary came out with a version for consoles, which is why the audience of the project has grown dramatically. Some of the players did not find or simply missed the original, so they had to comprehend the Fable world from scratch. The plot actually consists of interconnected lines to which the character comes, depending on the choice of the player. A distinctive feature of Fable is the possibility of passing in absolutely any way, while almost every choice leads to consequences that manifest themselves, including in the aura and appearance of the protagonist. The story is based on the “Hero” who grew up in Oakwell, a small village plundered by bandits. Maze teleports the boy to the Guild of Heroes, after which absolutely all possibilities are open to the player.
Reviews and reviews
The original has earned many accolades as a project with an unprecedentedly wide palette of possibilities, including a wealth of choice. The ability to buy / steal / take away literally everything, including real estate, weapons, clothes, money, has earned several quiet votes against, like propaganda of cruelty. However, the vast majority of critics have expressed their commitment and praise. Fable Anniversary with Russian voice acting is not available in the original Steam, but English remains at its best.
The actors approached the matter responsibly, the Hero received a high-quality soundtrack, variable depending on actions and surroundings. The graphics series, although it raises some questions for developers and system requirements, is still conditionally good. The game remains one of the most sought-after projects to this day, because it sets it apart from other sandboxes and allows the player to really decide the fate of the hero.
Negative feedback
Despite a successful start, the Fable Anniversary still earned several negative reviews, including for some rigging of facts. According to gamers, the game really acquired a new visual range, but it does not mean the HD edition. According to such critics, Lionhead Studios simply redrawn the original textures, and then sold the finished product twice - both the original and the remake. The developers do not comment on such statements. It is fair to say that the reviews on Steam about the project are mostly positive.
