Muramasa in Terraria is a melee weapon, one of the best before the hardmod (the mode that turns on after defeating the Wall of Flesh), of swords. It has high speed and weak knockback. This makes it extremely dangerous in battles with single mobs and ineffective in resisting waves.
Muramasa in Terraria is blue and emits asterisks upon impact. The sword is most effective in the "pre-hardmod" world if:
- a player wearing shadow armor;
- artifact “Animal gloves” (located in the jungle chests);
- artifact improvements + 4% attack speed;
- modifications from the goblin engineer in the quality of "Legendary".

The sword is used in subsequent crafting of the most powerful melee weapons before killing the boss Wall of Flesh - Edge of Night. To improve the sword you will need:
- Muramasa.
- Doom of Light - created on an anvil of 10 demonic ingots in the world with an infected distortion or Bloody meat cutter - craft is similar to Doom of Light, but 10 Krimtan ingots are used.
- Grass Sword - created on an anvil from 12 Stings and 12 Jungle Spores.
- Large fiery sword - created on an anvil of 20 Ingots of Hellstone.
When collecting all 4 ingredients, we go to the demonic altar (the world with Distortion) or to the Blood Altar (the world with Krimzon). It is worth paying attention to the fact that in the same world you can craft one thing: either a bloody meat-cutter, or the death of the night. The sword necessary for crafting is determined by the biome generated during the creation of the world: Distortion or Krimzon.
Where to find Muramasa in the Terraria?
You can find Muramasa only in the underground Dungeon after killing the boss of Skeleton. A sword is 40% likely to be in a gold chest.
To open the chest, you need a key that can be obtained by finding the Dungeon slug in the dungeons and killing it (the slug is generated in a random place throughout the Dungee territory).
Prototype
The weapon in the game has a historical basis: in the 16th century, Japan lived a swordsman and blacksmith Senji Muramasa, who made swords of the same name. According to legend, the blades made by Muramasa require blood and have a cult status due to their frequent mention in the literature. To date, no more than 40 swords of the master have been preserved, four of which are in museums, and the rest are in private collections.
