Dupole is the easiest crop rotation

The Slavs never sought to seize foreign lands, so agriculture for them was a fundamental element of economic development.

Primary tillage system

The primary method of cultivating the land was bisexual. This land cultivation technique involves the conditional division of a particular site into 2 parts. During one season, only 1 part "works", and the second "rests". The second plot, which was not seeded, was called "steam." However, this part of the land allotment did not quite rest. It must be cleaned of weeds and plowed. Only “steam” was sown on the next sowing season, and the other part was “resting”. And so in a circle.

Bisexual is an opportunity to reduce the impact of the human factor on land depletion. But the method revealed a significant drawback - in more arid regions of the earth, under clean "steam" they were subjected to severe wind erosion. As a result, farmers began to use spring instead of pure “steam”. Coarse-grained seeds of spring crops were planted on stubble. After the sideral mass grew, it was cut with lancet paws to a height of about 12 or more centimeters. Thus, in the bisexual, this sideral mass acted as a means for retaining moisture and grazing livestock.

After some time, the system has undergone some changes. As before, the field was divided into 2 parts, but one was sown with winter crops, and the other with spring crops.

bisexual is

Secondary technique

Despite the fact that the bisexual is a fairly effective way of processing the land, over time, the methodology has changed significantly. The era of the triple field began. The bottom line is that the fields were already divided into 3 parts, one part was plowed and sown with crops for livestock, spring and winter crops were planted on the other two. This technique is used in some regions to date, as is bipartite. Land under the "steam" is still used for grazing.

What is the advantage of triple field over double field?

The benefits of tri-field

Why did the majority of farmers refuse to divide the fields into two sections, and what is the advantage of the triple field over the double field?

First of all, the steam part of the land was used as pasture almost until the end of June. Then plowed and planted winter crops. The following year, after harvesting, used for grazing since August. As a result, it was possible in such a simple way to increase the area of arable land. On the same area, it was possible to collect large volumes of crops, and all agricultural work was evenly distributed over the entire calendar year. In the event of a natural disaster, the farmers had the hope of preserving at least part of the crop.
