The Smurfs are popular characters in comics, cartoons and films. Little blue men chased by their worst enemy Gargamel. These are fabulous heroes who, by a strange coincidence, turned out to have a blue body. The characters were invented by Pierre Cullifor, under the pseudonym Peyo.
The story of the creation of the image of men by a Belgian artist is as follows. He drove by car on business and, passing through the forest, stalled. Sitting among the thicket and waiting for help, he saw huge mushrooms in the meadow. The author’s fantasy immediately began to work hard. He imagined that fairy-tale gnomes must live in such a place. And finally, having arrived home, Peyo accidentally mixed up the color of the pencil, and the smurf turned out to be blue. That he remained.
If you decide to make your child a Christmas Smurf costume, then you need to know its external characteristics. The body of the gnome is blue, and the rest of the clothes are white. These are pants and a curved hat. The characters are almost no different. Smurfka-girl is dressed in a white dress and the same hat. The prudent wears glasses. Only the father of the family has a red suit.
Smurf costume for a boy
The simplest suit consists of three parts. These are trousers or harem pants of white color. Blue jacket and a white hat with a bent forward end. Pants can be sewn from satin, then the costume will be shiny and festive. Pants can be made according to old children's pants by attaching them folded in half to a fabric. Taking measurements, it will be easy to cut the material even for those who are not good at sewing. The belt and the bottom of the pants can be picked up with an elastic band.
By the same principle we sew and a jacket. At the back of the collar we make a small cut and connect the edges on the button. So it will be easier for the child to put it over his head. You can wear simple white Czech shoes on your feet. Smurf suit for the boy for the New Year can be decorated with rain, sheathed the bottom of sweaters and pants in silver. Costume for the girl
If a smurf costume is sewn for a holiday for a girl, then most of the details can be found in the wardrobe. Wear blue leggings and a turtleneck of the same color. If there are no such things, then it is easy to pick them up in the store. Then the child will be able to carry these things for a walk or in the same kindergarten. It remains only to sew a white sundress, which, incidentally, the girl will be able to wear in the summer, and a hat.
White shoes of the Smurfs may well be replaced by a set of white Czechs and socks. Socks can be worn over the Czechs, then it will look more like solid shoes.
Fleece jumpsuit
Such a one-piece jumpsuit as a smurf suit can be sewn with your own hands from three parts sewn together. This is a jacket with long sleeves, pants and boots. Mittens are made removable, because at a holiday the child will be uncomfortable to be with his hands closed all the time. The boy can take part in dances, round dances, and it just becomes hot for him.
So that the shoes do not slip on the smooth floor of the hall, only the upper part can be sewn from white fleece. And the sole is made of felt or leather insoles.
Gloves
You can either buy blue gloves on your hands for a smurf suit, picking them up in the same shade as a jacket, or sew from fleece so that there is a real kit. As you can see in the photo below, gloves have several characteristic features. Firstly, they are large, and secondly, they have only four fingers. You can sew them according to the pattern, using the gloves of the child. Finger pockets are also made wide, because the child will have to insert two fingers at once in one.
The lower part is taken on the rubber band. Gloves are worn over the sweatshirt to make the smurf costume seem solid.
Character hat
As you can see in the photo, the cap of the smurf has a peculiar, curved forward shape of the apex. To make such a hat with your own hands, you must first draw a pattern. The lower part corresponds to measurements of the circumference of the child’s head. And the rest is a drawing of a seamstress. The size of the bend is considerable. To keep the cap in shape and not to fall to one side, you can insert filler inside. For example, synthetic winterizer.

Boots
The last element of the costume of this fabulous character are large-sized boots. From the photograph you can imagine what shape you need to give the product. So that shoes of this size do not fall and do not interfere with the child's movement, you can make the upper part of the shaft with Velcro or elastic. A pattern of such shoes consists of three parts. The first is the sole. She is painted on the insole of a child from shoes. You can add a couple of centimeters to make them seem larger. Then it will be better if the baby puts them on Czechs. Then you need to draw a rectangle of the heel part and, applying to the pattern the insole of the sole of the boot, draw the rest of it. The top of the shoe consists of two identical parts.
Then the sole and two other components are sewn together on the wrong side. These shoes are suitable for both the girl and the boy.
