Royal Lilies: Reproduction in Several Ways

Lilies are very diverse. To date, more than 2000 varieties are known that differ in many parameters (plant height, number of leaves on the stem, shape, color and number of flowers, etc.).

There are probably no people who do not like them. The only difference is that one is more like Asian, and the other - OT hybrids or some others.

If you plant several bulbs on your plot and wait for their bloom, you may want to have more such wonderful plants as lilies. Their reproduction is simple, it can be done in four ways.

1. Reproduction by children

4 years after the planting of one plant, a whole nest is formed at this place, consisting of the mother's bulb and daughter-aged children of different ages. It is better to plant them in the second half of August. Digging up from all sides, the nest must be carefully removed from the soil, trying to maintain the roots. In case of suspicion of any disease, the bulbs can be kept in the solution "Maxim" for half an hour, and then planted in a prepared place. In the landing fossa, it is necessary to make a knoll, placing the bulb on it and spreading the roots of the lily. Reproduction by children is the easiest way.

2. Reproduction   "Bulbs"

In some types of lilies, leaf buds form in the axils of the leaves, in the common people called "bulbs". If you do not touch them, then they will crumble and, possibly, will sprout in the next season. If you collect and plant for growing, then the likelihood of obtaining new plants will increase significantly. On a prepared, composted, moistened place, you need to make a groove 2 cm deep and spread out lily bulbs with a certain distance. Reproduction in this way has one drawback - flowering plants with good care will come only in the 3rd year.

3. Reproduction by leaves

If you somehow got a lily (flower), its reproduction is possible by leaves. To do this, they need to be cut with a sterile tool at the very base. Immerse them for 6 hours in a heteroauxin solution 1/3 of the length. Then plant in a cold greenhouse to a depth of half a leaf. Periodically water and gently loosen the soil. After about 45 days, small pea-sized bulbs form at the base of the leaves. In the spring they need to be planted on a bed for growing. For winter, the planting site needs to be insulated, for example, with fallen leaves from healthy trees or compost.

4. Reproduction by scales

From a bulb of a lily, the reproduction of which you want to conduct at an accelerated pace, you can safely remove several scales. To do this, you do not need to dig it out, it is enough to bare it slightly. Treat the resulting material with the drug "Maxim" or phytosporin. If it happens in spring or summer, then the scales can be planted in a penumbra place. If autumn is outside, then they need to be put in a bag, sprinkled with moistened sawdust, and tied. Put it in a cool shaded place. After 2 months, you need to check whether the procedure was successful or not. If bulbs are formed at the base of the scales, then they must be planted in a pot with soil and refrigerated until March. After the time has expired, planting on a light windowsill.

5. Stem cuttings

A rare garden lily, the reproduction of which is extremely necessary, can be reproduced by stem cuttings. Its stem is cut during budding, divided into fragments 7 cm long, the lower leaves are removed and rooted in moistened perlite. After a while, onions may form in the axils of the leaves.

In addition to the described methods, it should be noted another option for reproducing lilies - seed propagation. This is a time-consuming procedure that has pros (the offspring will be without diseases) and cons (the resulting plants may differ from the mother).
