Space simulators - this is one of the very first genres of games that appeared on the PC. Space flying shooters gained their first popularity after the classic slot machines. They were not much like modern games, but even then made a splash in the video game market. To date, the series of space shooter franchises on PC scatter in millions of copies and can still compete with games of other genres.
Freelancer
This game, released back in 2003, can still compete with modern representatives of this genre. It was for the first time that 3D graphics were used to depict space battles and battles on the open spaces of a large universal scale. In the game, everything is fine, from the plot to the gameplay and pumping system.
The plot tells of an alternative world in which, after a defeat in the space war of earthlings, people leave their own galaxy. The whole civilization is divided into several separate states, the prototypes of which were already existing on the planet Earth (USA, Great Britain, the German Empire and Spain). In the game they are called by new names, but they preserve the political system of the ancestral countries, whether liberalism or the monarchy.
The main character is a resident of the new states (Liberty), who was attacked while completing a mission for large-scale cargo transportation. Now he will become a fighter pilot in the public service.
Darkstar one
Another great representative of XP shooting games with space pirates, strategy elements and RPGs. This is far from the newest game, although DarkStar One looks quite modern.
In this space shooter on PC, the player is given the opportunity to become the captain of the Black Star ship and avenge the death of his father. The essence of the gameplay is to complete a fascinating storyline and improve your combat vehicle. It is interesting that, despite the huge and well-developed world, this is one of the few space shooters on the PC that have such a variety in the passage of the plot and combinations of the development of the ship.
Mass Effect Series
It's hard to find someone interested in video games who has never heard of a captain Jack Shepard franchise. Mass Effect is based on the eponymous storybook, which was reproduced in the form of space shooting on a PC in 2008.
"Mass Effect" is a single-player RPG shooter from the world famous studio Bioware. Each part is a finished work in meaning, filled with action and a well-constructed storyline. Despite the controversial criticism of the last part, this franchise is considered one of the best in terms of space shooters on PC.
Franchise Dead Space
An extremely interesting, original series of games that combines several seemingly incompatible genres at once. In addition to reference to space topics, the game uses elements of horror, RPG, shooter and survival. This is a whole sci-fi story with extremely cunning interweaving of the plot, an interesting setting and mesmerizing gameplay. The game is replete with references to classic horror films about the endless depths of space. You can notice the influence on scriptwriters of such films as “Alien”, “Through the Horizon”, “Something”.
The main advantage over other games is the ease of mastering the mechanics and gameplay. This is a classic shooter shooter, so the player only needs to kill xenomorphs and enjoy the plot. Nevertheless, if this is not enough, then you can try to increase the level of complexity, craft and find the ideal method of development of the Tree of Talents.
Star Wars: Battlefront
If we talk about space shooters, it is simply impossible to ignore a game based on the world famous movie star Wars. The first game of the series was released back in 2004 and made a splash in the gaming community. To date, 4 games have already been released, each of which surpassed the previous one in popularity.
Star Wars is more than just a game. The ENT of the game is represented by a huge number of comics, a series of six films, an in-game plot and is expanded by all kinds of fan fiction, interviews with the creators of the game, desktops and much more.
The gameplay is presented in 6 game modes:
- "Superiority". The player chooses one of four factions and fights for the territory with a team of 8 people.
- "Fight". The fight "every man for himself" on a small map.
- "Battle of space crews." Exciting battles in the open spaces against other players.
- "Heroes against the villains." Battle 4 on 4 in the plot of the first three films.
- "Arcade". Passage of story missions against the computer. There is an opportunity to play with a partner.
- "Galactic War." Epic battles on huge maps.
The Battlefront franchise does not cease to amaze, and therefore is unlikely to be forgotten in the near future.
