Disney princesses conquer the hearts of girls of all ages for more than one generation. Cinderella’s costume is worn with pleasure by one-year-old babies for the first photo shoot, 5-year-old beauties at a matinee in a kindergarten, and even adult ladies at costumed parties. Of course, demand creates supply and many stores offer their own vision of this outfit. But you can make a Cinderella costume with your own hands - its complexity and cost can be very different, depending on your goals, budget and skills. We will consider several different options, each of which is good in its own way.
A simple Cinderella costume for a girl
Do you have tight sewing? It does not matter, because without a single stitch you can make a charming Cinderella costume. Photos of this outfit:
You will need:
- 14 m blue and 5 m white tulle;
- elastic lace bandage for hair;
- beautiful hair clip-hair clip;
- scissors;
- children's crown.
How to make such a suit?
The sequence of actions is as follows:
- Cut tulle into strips 15 cm wide.
- The hair band is the bodice of the dress. From her you need to make a magnificent skirt. To do this, fold the blue fabric in half, pull the resulting loop into the hole at the bottom of the bandage, then thread the long end of the tulle ribbon into it, thereby fixing it securely. Repeat this step until the skirt regains volume and splendor.
- Similarly, make 2 wide straps of the desired length of white fabric, but already fixing them on top of the hairbands.
- Then cover the base of the bodice with tulle. To do this, put the dress on the baby, and wrap the white fabric around the chest so that it does not sit very tight, but also does not fall. Tie a knot on the back, and secure with a hair clip in front.
- It remains to add the crown, and the cute costume of Cinderella is ready.
For older girls
This outfit is easy to adapt to different ages of the child. For example, this Cinderella costume for a girl is made on the same principle, but with minor changes:
So, for the bodice you will have to buy separately elastic openwork fabric, sew brooches on the base of the dress and, to complement the look, make an elegant black necklace (measure the satin ribbon of the desired length and sew Velcro at the ends).
To make the skirt even more beautiful, you can use tulle in several shades of blue, with sparkles or sequins.
Need to make an elegant New Year's Cinderella costume? Carefully work out the top of the dress: take a shiny fabric for it, decorate it with silver braid, make satin ribbons of bows and straps.
From tulle, add lush wide shoulder straps and jewelry coming from the waist to the skirt. Crown, white or blue gloves and transparent silicone shoes - the image of the baby will be impeccable.
Painstaking work
The Disney movie of 2015 generated new standards for the outfit of one of the most popular princesses. A chic dress in delicate shades of blue and purple - this is how a modern Cinderella costume looks like. Photo of a luxurious outfit that will help you better navigate when creating your masterpiece:
Obviously, it won the hearts of many girls, so this is the version of the dress - with a fluffy multilayer skirt with complex tints of color and a collar with butterflies - has become especially common and popular.
If you have the basic skills of cutting and sewing, then you will get a beautiful Cinderella carnival costume that will look no worse than from the store.
For work you will need:
- 2.3 m thick blue fabric;
- 0.5 m white cotton fabric;
- 0.5 m adhesive non-woven;
- 6.5 m blue tulle;
- 1 m light lilac tulle;
- 0.5 m sewn Velcro;
- 2 m wide elastic;
- finished butterflies or beautiful paper for their manufacture;
- sewing machine and other sewing accessories (threads, scissors, needles, etc.).
Exact values
For the correct calculation of the amount of tissue, you need to start from the parameters of the child. The above numbers were taken for a girl with measurements:
- Bust 55 cm.
- Waist circumference 61 cm.
- Height from waist to armpit 26 cm.
- The length of the skirt (from belt to feet) is 64cm.
Operating procedure
This Cinderella costume consists of two independent parts that you can use with other things to create different elegant looks. So, we make its upper part:
- By standards 1, 2 and 3, cut out a rectangle with a pointed protrusion on the bottom edge, so that the bodice of the dress in shape looks like a cinderella dress corset. It is advisable to make a blank a couple of centimeters more than necessary so that the child has time to wear a suit before he grows out of it, and be sure to add 2 cm of seam allowance.
- We glue the cotton lining with glue non-woven so that the dress is comfortable to wear, does not irritate the skin and holds its shape well.
- We hem the edges and sew the Velcro fastener on the sides.
- We make straps with a width of 5 cm and a length of 23 cm. It is also advisable to use a lining so that they keep their shape and do not rub shoulders. And the optimal length is easiest to choose by sewing one edge of the strapless to the front of the dress, and putting it on the child.
- Now we make magnificent sleeves. On top of light purple tulle lay blue tulle, make a lush strip about 25 cm wide, stitch it in the center. Then attach it to the middle of the bodice of the dress.
- So that the sleeves do not hinder movement, try on dresses again and lay the fabric so that it lies luxuriantly and comfortably. Then sew it on the back, at a distance of about 5 cm from the fastener. Trim the remaining ends of the tulle, bend and sew again.
- Be sure not to forget about butterflies - little fashionistas like them very much. You can buy ready-made options in sewing stores, you can carefully cut them out of thick paper and decorate them with sparkles.
Dress bottom
We make a magnificent skirt, which is often useful to a little princess. Here, the work also consists of two stages:
- From the blue fabric we make the petticoat. To do this, cut out a rectangle with a length equal to the measure No. 4 (the length of the skirt from the waist to the feet), and to determine the width you need to multiply the waist circumference by 2. Do not forget the seam allowance. In addition, consider when determining the length that the edge of the skirt should completely hide under the bodice of the dress and not jump out when moving. Therefore, the waist should be a little high.
- We cut off a piece of a wide elastic band so that it fits freely on the belt with a slight stretch (so that the dress does not immediately become small and last longer).
- We process the bottom edge of the skirt, sew it in height. And on top we make a drawstring wide enough to pass an elastic band. We insert it and stitch the edges.
- Now we make a tulle skirt. To do this, simply sew it to the elastic, simultaneously stretching it and picking up the tulle so that it does not tear in the sock.

This way it turns out a very versatile Cinderella costume. Skirts can be used both together and separately. The top can be changed and you will get an outfit for Elsa or fairies - the little princess will be delighted with such a space for imagination.
