Origin
Most historians are inclined to believe that Anastasia Lisovskaya (as the girl was originally called) had Ukrainian roots. Her father was a priest. However, this did not prevent her from subsequently changing her faith and accepting Islam. The girl had a beautiful appearance. During one of the raids of the Crimean Tatars, she was captured. Anastasia was sold several times. As a result, she became a gift for the great Sultan in honor of his accession to the throne.
Concubine and wife

The path from a simple concubine to the wife of the Sultan was not so simple. Outward beauty and natural charm helped her attract the Sultan. However, this remained a secret. As a result of great love, they had five children: Mehmed, Mihrimakh (the only daughter of the Sultan), Abdullah, Selim, Bayazid. None of the children inherited the mind, originality, and greatness of their parents. Their fate was unsuccessful. After the death of his father, Selim became the Sultan. His reign was short-lived. He died of constant drinking. So he remained in the memory of the people.

What did Roxolana die from? It is known that Alexandra Anastasia Lisowska was 52-56 years old, when she was gone. She was sick for a long time. According to some reports, it was a common cold, which gave complications. Some claim that she was poisoned by ill-wishers. To say for sure is now impossible. For posterity, it remained a mystery from which Roxolana died.
