Diamond pencil belongs to the category of governing tools and has a high level of wear resistance. This device is intended for final grinding of the surface to be processed. It can be used for internal, flat, and also centerless grinding. Diamond pencil can be equipped with natural or synthetic stones, which are fixed in a metal bundle.
Composition of diamond pencil
For editing, a device having a diameter of 8-10 millimeters is usually used. The diamond pencil was able to get the most distribution as a tool intended for these purposes. It contains crystals of diamonds placed in a specific order, which are interconnected by a special material. It is made in the form of a special alloy with a coefficient of thermal expansion close to diamonds. This characteristic allows you to not subject the stones to additional deformation when heated.
Diamond pencil for straightening circles: varieties
Basically, several types of this device are used. They differ depending on how diamond crystals are located in them in the working part, and also what characteristics they possess:
- type C - diamonds in this case are arranged in a chain;
- type C - stones are placed in layers that may overlap or not overlap;
- type H - diamonds in this case are not oriented.
In addition, a diamond pencil may belong to different brands depending on the mass and number of stones used in it, as well as on the size of the frame and insert.
Features of each kind
For the production of each type of device, crystals of different weights are used. Diamond pencil for dressing type C is made of high quality stones, weighing 0.03-0.5 carats each. Their scope is dressing of wheels for centerless shaped and internal, as well as round grinding. A Type C pencil is made in two grades. The first are fine-grained, in them the number of small diamond grains is up to 10 in one layer. The second type is small-grained, here 2-5 stones with a carat of 0.1-0.2 fall on the layer. Such a diamond pencil has increased wear resistance, and it is used to dress abrasive wheels in the process of finish grinding. Type H devices are made from stones of different quality, sometimes even from chipped and crushed stones. The scope of application of such pencils is dressing of grinding wheels of fine-grained structure during centerless and round grinding operations, and also as a dressing tool for dish-shaped, single-thread thread-grinding and flat grinding and grinding wheels.
Thanks to dressing circles using diamond pencils, it is possible to obtain high accuracy of the working surface, to determine the shaped profile, which allows to achieve much more accurate sharpening of the working tool, as well as higher labor productivity.
