Torbey tomato - one of the best hybrids

Torbay tomato is one of the best determinant hybrids of pink-fruited tomatoes. It is suitable for both greenhouse cultivation and outdoor cultivation using temporary film shelters. The highest yield can be obtained in a greenhouse, but with ordinary cultivation, the number of large fruits is simply amazing.

This high-yielding variety of tomatoes produces slightly ribbed, dense, flat-round fruits, the largest mass of which can reach up to 250 g. The smallest mass of one fruit is 150 g. A decrease in the mass of tomato indicates insufficiently favorable growing conditions. The average weight of one fruit is 170-180 g. Ripe Torbay tomatoes have a beautiful pink color.

These tomatoes are used fresh, and are also used for further processing. They have excellent taste, fleshy pulp, which is ideal for pickling. The fruits of this variety have a unique sweetness, which is due to the fact that they have a lower acidity than red-fruited fruits. You can also get a very thick and tasty juice from them that contains many useful substances.

Torbay tomato differs from other hybrids in that it produces fruits that retain their presentation and quality for a long time, and are also very resistant to long-term transportation.

Another important feature of this hybrid is the increased heat resistance, which allows you to grow it even in the absence of constant watering. The highest yield is achieved with regular watering and top dressing with various organic and inorganic fertilizers. Torbey tomato is also attractive because it is very resistant to various diseases of nightshade.

Typically, these tomatoes are grown in seedlings. Sowing tomato seeds is carried out in March or in the first decade of April. Seeds are planted to a depth of 15 mm. The temperature of the soil should be 20-22 ° C. Seed germination is 90-92%.

Tomato seedlings dive. Thirty-day-old seedlings that have grown and hardened outdoors are planted in light, moistened soil with a slightly acidic reaction. The usual planting pattern is 60x30 cm. Torbay tomato is planted by adding 10 g of superphosphate to each well. Planting time depends on weather conditions, but the main condition is the absence of the threat of frost, which can completely destroy the seedlings.

This variety belongs to determinant hybrids. Tomato Torbay f1 is a mid-early variety. From the moment of transplanting seedlings to the moment of the first fruiting, 75-80 days pass. Tomatoes are well knotted even at low air temperatures. In each brush, 4-5 fruits are formed.

This variety has very powerful bushes. In greenhouses, the bush can reach 1.4 m, and under normal conditions - up to 1 m. Care for growing plants consists of timely gartering of plants to supports, the formation of a bush and regular pinching. It is these actions that allow you to get the maximum yield. Torbay tomato prefers plentiful watering. It must be produced in 2 days. Once a week, complex fertilizers must be added to the water, which contribute to fruiting and increase productivity. Watering is best done in the evening.

The wide distribution of this variety is due to its increased resistance to tomato mosaic, verticillosis wilt, root and vertex rot, fusarium, brown leaf spot (cladosporiosis), gall nematodes. It is best to grow this hybrid from quality seeds that are available in specialized stores. There are many domestic firms selling good seeds, but seeds can also be purchased from Holland and other European countries.
