Today it is difficult to find a person who does not have pets in his house or apartment. Many people start pets with the advent of children, older people when they retire, and some earn money by raising animals in the apartment. In any case, we are all very kind to our smaller brothers. But they have their own day - Pets Day. When this holiday is celebrated and how exactly the celebrations take place, read below.
history of the holiday

In Florence in 1931, the International Congress of Conservationists officially approved the holiday, which became known as World Day Pets. Translated into Russian is the day of pets. The holiday was declared as world, but Russia did not support the initiative, it simply decided not to officially enter the day of domesticated four-legged friends. But the government could be understood. In total, not so long ago, a new communist state was formed, and in 1931 only labor books for workers were introduced in our country. The government was little occupied with the fate of pets. Time passed, our country turned into Russia, and the holiday remained officially unapproved. Many people know that November 30th is considered a pet day. City administrations of their own free will can even hold some kind of holiday performance in a city park, but no more. The government completely transfers the care of pets to the shoulders of citizens. Surprisingly, our country has not even introduced a law banning cruelty to animals, although since 1991 it has already been in the State Duma.
What events are held in honor of the holiday
In honor of the day of pets, exhibitions of four-legged friends are held. Most often they are sponsored by clubs and specialized nurseries. Sometimes such an event is combined with an exhibition and sale of thoroughbred animals. Such competitions are attended not only by pet owners and their friends, but also by all concerned people who want to see not only beautiful, but also talented animals.
Sometimes club representatives organize an animal parade. Everyone can take part in it, the main rule is that the pet should come in a suit. Such processions look incredibly bright and festive.
Zoo owners are not far behind. In many countries, including Russia, the action "Bell" has become traditional. On November 30, people come to the zoo with bells and, within the agreed period, they all start ringing them together. Such a chime is heard in all the streets adjacent to the zoo. People thus want to attract the attention of passers-by to the problem of cruelty to pets.
As our fellow citizens celebrate the holiday
Today it is difficult to find a person who would not give gifts to his cat, dog, parrot, ferret, etc. Our fellow citizens present pet treats, new toys, leashes and even clothes to their pets on their pets' day. Pets are not always delighted with gifts, but they donβt know how to speak, they have to accept what they give. What, in addition to presentations and participation in exhibitions, do pets receive on a holiday?
Well, of course, human love and tenderness. For many animals, this is the best gift. Some animals on November 30 acquire a loving family and shelter.
Holiday script
If the city administration is in no hurry to celebrate World Pet Day, then zoos, shelters and children's centers still arrange a holiday. And in order for the celebration to go well, you need to write a script. How to compose it? As a basis, you can take the scenario of World Pet Day, proposed below.
The main characters are the Cat and Dog. Their task is to attract more parents with children to participate in street games.
Cat and Dog run out from around the corners of two different houses, music plays. Animals do not fight, as is usually the case, but hug.

Interesting Facts
- Pet Protection Day has not been officially introduced in Russia, although in other countries it has been around for 86 years.
- Russia has not introduced a law that does not allow cruel treatment of animals.
- One of the main tasks of Pets Protection Day is to collect donations to help pets affected by domestic violence.
Do you need an animal protection day
Of course you need it. Indeed, it is thanks to such holidays that people begin to think about the fact that in our world there are animals that are unlucky with their owners. And if it is impossible to catch such people, then everyone is able to raise his child so that he treats a pet as a friend, and not like a beast. It is International Pet Day that makes people come together. Everyone has the opportunity to talk with veterinarians who will talk about the problems of thoroughbred cats and dogs, as well as help with instructions and tips on grooming. Thanks to charitable exhibitions, it turns out to collect a lot of money, which is then spent on helping injured animals.
What has been achieved in 17 years
Although officially November 30 is not considered a holiday, in our country the day of protecting pets was remembered in the 2000s. Since then, every year in many cities all kinds of events, rallies, exhibitions, parades, meetings and other events have been held. Posters are drawn for Pets Day, and many shelters spend open days. Indeed, in our country it is not customary to take animals from the shelter to the house. Many people find it easier to catch a kitten or puppy on the street. But you should understand that the animals in the shelter also want to have their own home and find a loving family. For 17 years, problems with stray animals began to be solved. Many dogs and cats were sterilized, so now the government has taken control of the birth rate among street animals.
Prospects for further development
In the future, all residents of the country hope that November 30 will become an official holiday, like Children's Day or Mother's Day. After all, animals are our lesser brothers, we must show due respect for them. There are not many people in Russia who mistreat their four-legged friends. But still there are such individuals, and it is just necessary to introduce fines for them. After all, violence must be suppressed in any form, regardless of who it is applied to: a person or an animal.
