In the 21st century, the variety of published literature is not limited by genre boundaries. Some contemporary works have not yet received public acclaim, and some have already become bestsellers. The latter include a series of books about the hero of Harry Potter, authored by Joan Rowling.
In Russia, one of the most popular science fiction writers is Dmitry Emets.
The work of Dmitry Emets
Dmitry Emets was born in Moscow in 1974. By the age of forty, the writer managed to release more than 20 books. Most are a series of stories about a specific character, for example, the cycles "Tanya Grotter", "Methodius Buslaev." All books in order of the last of the named series we will consider in today's article.
Dmitry Emets began with the series "Space Pirate Crox". After him there were several more works that were combined into cycles, but each of them included no more than 2 books (excluding the first).
Since 2002, Dmitry Emets begins to release a series about Tan Grotter. The first few books aroused great criticism: it is not necessary to read the work, just look at the title to understand that the book refers us to the "Harry Potter" Rowling.
And indeed, at first this series was a bit of a parody of Harry Potter. However, after the 3rd book, the story of Tanya Grotter became independent and fell in love with readers.
It is interesting how Dmitry Emets skillfully uses the motives of Russian fairy tales in his work. If Harry Potter meets with gnomes or centaurs, flies on a broomstick, then Tanya Grotter soars on double bass and fights with the Russian Serpent-Mountain.

"Methodius Buslaev." The beginning of the story
So, according to the plot of the work, a 12-year-old boy named Methodius suddenly finds out that he was destined for an unusual fate: he should become the master of darkness. Such is the plot of the book "Methodius Buslaev." In order, the series consists of 18 works. The latter was written in 2015. The 19th book is still in the draft.
The first book is called The Midnight Mage. It went on sale in 2004. It tells about the life of Methodius Buslaev before he learned about his magical abilities.
The next book in the series "Methodius Buslaev" in order - "Scroll of Desires." The book tells of a magical scroll that can fulfill absolutely any desire. However, he is being hunted. Both the Dark and the Light Warriors are looking for the scroll.
The third book is called The Third Horseman of Darkness. The team, consisting of Methodius, Daph, Arey and Ulita, finds three people who were born at the same time as Buslaev. Each of them has magical abilities.
The fourth book - “Ticket to the Bald Mountain” - is published in 2006. The head of the chancellery, a dwarf named Ligul, wants to become the main one and command darkness, although by right this position belongs to Methodius Buslaev.
The fifth book, with the mysterious title Revenge of the Valkyries, comes out two months after the previous one. The Valkyries in Scandinavian mythology called the goddesses who took the fallen during the battle soldiers to heaven.

Methodius Buslaev: continuation of the story
In September 2006, the next book, The Secret Magic of Depresnyak, was published. The plot of the book is in search of a mysterious artifact.

Perhaps, after the publication of the 12th book, readers thought that Dmitry Emets was not going to continue the series of books that he loved about Methodius Buslaev. However, in 2011, the book "Dance of the Sword."
The book "Fire Gate" tells about an interesting artifact. If a person passes through these gates, he will forever be trapped in his own fears. The gates of fire arise on earth, and a cunning plan appears at the Office of Darkness.
The 16th novel, The Book of the Seven Roads, is published in 2013, and the 17th story, called The Rook of the Light, came out a few months later.
The last book was published in 2015. It is called the “Griffin Bug”. However, the series does not end with this work. Readers are waiting for the book "The Best Enemy."
