How to make a pattern?
In order for the result to please, you should build a pattern of boots. For convenience, it is recommended to use a plastic material such as polyethylene. If not, paper will do. A pattern of boots made of fabric is built in different ways:
- Using an old, comfortable pair of shoes. When applying polyethylene and focusing on the seams, you need to circle the parts along the contour. Check the correspondence of the parts to each other in length and correct them.
- You can build a pattern by applying it to the leg. The foot is circled, an increase of 2-3 cm is made, depending on the material from which the boots are sewn. What do you need for work?
After building a drawing of future boots from fabric, you can prepare the necessary materials for tailoring. Depending on the model you will need:
- The main fabric is the top of the boots: fleece, fur, velor, etc.
- The sole is made of leather, leatherette, dense raincoat fabric. This can be the main fabric, the main thing is that it is not too slippery. Specialty stores sell handmade shoe soles, but they make the product heavier.
- A heater, such as a synthetic winterizer or silicone, will not only protect the feet from the cold, but will also keep the shape of the shaft. An important point - do not forget to make an additional allowance for the thickness of the material.
- Lining fabric is needed as an additional layer, and also allows you to hide all the seams inside the product. Lining details are cut out from the main fabric or, if the top is too dense, from thinner material. If the boots are sewn from a sheepskin coat, then the lining is not needed.
- You will need a needle, nylon threads for manual stitching and a sewing machine, if the density of the fabric allows it to be sewn.

How to sew fabric boots - step by step instructions
- Print the pattern and cut the desired size, marking the control points.
- Transfer the pattern to the fabric, not forgetting to make allowances of about 3 cm. Since the drawing is done on the front side of the fabric, use the disappearing marker or subsequently cut the pattern lines. When cutting leather with a furry back, you need to use a sharp blade so as not to damage the pile with scissors.
- Place the front of the shaft on the back and stitch. The fur edge remains open. Place the toe on the front of the shaft and stitch between the marks 2. To heel the heel from the side sections of the toe and then along the back of the shaft to the side cut of the toe (between marks 3).
- The artificial leather sole should be connected to the sole of the fur with the wrong sides to each other and stitched to the edge. Turn the boot inside out and connect with the sole so that the leather side is inside. When sweeping, align the centers of the sole and the upper part of the boot. Slightly fit the toe and heel parts and grind the seam.
