Location
In the Transcarpathian region, high in the mountains is one of the most beautiful reservoirs of Ukraine. This is Lake Brebeneskul, which belongs to the Rakhiv district. It takes place in the pit between the mountains. The first peak is Brebeneskul, whose height is 2035 meters, and the second is Gutin Tomnatek with a height of 2016 meters. To get to the lake, you need to travel 26 km east from Rakhiv. You should move towards the west from the mountain peak of Brebeneskul. You can go on a hike to this place on your own or with a guided tour, so it will be more informative and interesting.
Origin and relief
It is known that Lake Brebeneskul arose from a glacier. This happened a few thousand years ago. The lake is small: length - 134 m, width - 28-44 m. The area is small, and the depth is up to 2.8 m. The water is warm in the summer, plunging into it, you can gain healthy energy, and local beauties give food to the soul.
The shores of the lake are high, rocky. It is fed by a reservoir of groundwater and precipitation. Water has a blue tint. In composition, it is slightly mineralized. The bottom of the lake is rocky, and at the depth is covered with gray silt.

The lake does not have a constant surface outflow. Filtration passes through the eastern side, where the river of the same name begins. The water in the lake, though clean, is not recommended for drinking.
No fish are found in the pond. Among the inhabitants - only microscopic crustaceans and amphibians, such as newts and toads. Grass begins to grow directly from the edge of the lake. No other vegetation.
Going to the lake, you need to remember that it is located in a mountain pit. The sun is there only until noon. Then it hides behind the mountains. The temperature goes down. It gets cold. Since the month of October, significant frosts begin. And in May there are still islands of snow.

Climbing the mountain, especially for beginners, is very difficult, one might even say - extreme. But this does not stop anyone. Ecological problems that Lake Brebeneskul has
No matter how high the lake is, the tourist flow does not decrease, but rather, every year this route is gaining popularity. Tents are often set up on the south side of the lake. The remains of garbage settle in the lake, most of all accumulating in the places below, near the eponymous river Brebeneskul, which originates from this lake. In addition, tourists cut creeping pine trees in the area for bonfires. And this despite the fact that the reservoir belongs to the territory of the protected Montenegrin massif and it is forbidden to light bonfires here. As a result of a human stay on the shore, garbage dumps began to form. It turns out that the height of Lake Brebeneskul and its impeccable beauty raise our souls to heaven, but a human hand cuts the branch on which it sits.
