Proper cyclamen transplant

Cyclamen is a perennial plant that has a corm almost spherical in shape.

When planning to buy cyclamen, pay close attention to foliage and tubers; there should be no signs of decay on them. This plant is best bought in the fall, when the flowering barely begins, it is better if the plant will have enough buds. Only in this case is the correct cyclamen transplant possible.

If you properly care for this plant, then cyclamen will delight you with its beautiful flowering for 20 years. Correct transplantation implies that the tuber should not be deeply buried in the ground, it must be remembered that its upper part should be above the ground. The next important feature in caring for a flower is to grow it in a small pot so that the tuber does not rot and the flowering is plentiful.

During flowering, this plant needs access to cool air, the ideal temperature is about 15 degrees.

Cyclamen needs constant watering. It will be better to water it through the tray or by immersion for a short time. After the cyclamen is transplanted, it is necessary to ensure that water does not get on the sprouts and tuber. It is necessary to exclude waterlogging of the earth, this can be fatal for a tuber, and, therefore, for the flower as a whole. It is also very important to know how to transplant cyclamen so that the plant grows and blooms well.

Cyclamen transplant is carried out after the end of the dormancy period, however, before the start of the budding period. During this transplant, completely earthen lump should be replaced, rotted and dead roots of cyclamen should be removed. After the transplant, cyclamen is placed in a fairly bright place, which is protected from direct sunlight. In the first weeks after the transplant, watering should be very moderate. And after another two weeks, it is already allowed to start dressing the plant as well.

The composition of the land for the Persian cyclamen: humus, leaf, sand, turf land, taken in identical parts. The ideal pot size for this plant is 12-14 cm. Even if the correct transplant of cyclamen is carried out in an excessively small pot, then cyclamen will begin to bloom too early, and flowering will be short and weak. Large pot sizes are also undesirable.

For other types of cyclamen, dolomite flour or ash should be added to the pot to reduce soil acidity. Land for European and Neapolitan cyclamens should be quite nutritious, and for Kos - quite poor.

When transplanting Persian cyclamen, it is impossible to deepen the tuber, while Neapolitan cyclamen must be buried. For the other types of cyclamen there are no such clear rules; the main thing is to ensure that the cyclamen tuber does not rot.

Now you know how to properly transplant cyclamen, but this does not guarantee you success in growing this plant.

The seeds of Persian, Neapolitan and European cyclamens should be sown late in the summer so that the air temperature is about 15-20. After 15-18 months, the flowering period of many Persian cyclamen species comes.

During flowering and vegetation, cyclamen requires regular watering, it is better to carry out through a pallet. If cyclamen is watered from above, it is necessary to ensure that moisture does not get on the tuber, for which water is poured at the edge of the pot.

Cyclamen prefers moist air, in this regard, the air around the cyclamen can be moistened with a spray gun, however, make sure that water does not directly enter the plant. You can also set the pot with the plant on a tray, on which lies wet pebbles.

After the flowering of cyclamen is over, the flowers should be cut to a tuber, reducing watering and stop feeding the flower. If there are yellowed leaves, then they must be unscrewed along with the petioles, but not cut. The remaining leaves will dry in the spring, and the plant will go into a dormant state, at which time watering must be stopped. The pot should be put on its side and put in a cool place. The flower does not need to be watered until mid-summer.
