Fans of indoor plants are quite familiar with dreamiopsis. Home care is pretty straightforward. And it is valued not for flowering, although it is attractive in its own way, but for lush foliage, often covered with neat spots. And it is very suitable for beginners, gardeners insecure - you can ruin it by hard work.
Plant description
Drimiopsis is from the east of Africa and belongs to bulbous plant varieties. The leaves are elongated, oval-pointed in shape. In favorable conditions, they form a lush, dense bush. Dreamiopsis blooms in captivity willingly, forming a fluffy brush of inflorescences with small, rather inconspicuous flowers. However, do not immediately be disappointed: due to their number, the “whisk” looks quite elegant.
Where to place a new home
Many are surprised by the unpretentiousness that Dreamiopsis possesses. Home care for any plant begins with its placement and often causes a lot of trouble with the selection of a suitable window sill. The most comfortable - western and eastern - windows fit any green pet, and dreamiopsis does not mind them either. However, with the same success it can be put in the south - he loves the light. You just need to move the pot a bit so that noon, the hottest rays fall on it. However, on the north side, dreamiopsis will feel good, as it has good shade tolerance.
We select and observe the temperature regime
The flower is more demanding on heat - do not forget where the Drimiopsis comes from. Home care on this side is to maintain a degree between 15 and 25 Celsius. If the column crawled above - you will have to water more often and more. Then your pet will endure a temperature of 30 degrees. In winter, the flower “falls asleep”, and it does not need such warmth. However, a cold snap even up to + 10 is undesirable - it can freeze.
Water correctly
On warm days, the flower needs water all the time. You can’t wait for the earth to dry out in a pot - the leaves will start to dry and the flowers will fall off. However, overflow is dangerous - it can rot the bulb. So it is better to pay "water attention" to the plant more often, but without excessive abundance.
Wintering dreamiopsis requires special supervision in this sense: winter care at home is primarily in very careful watering. Since the flower bulbs are resting at this time, you should not water it - just keep the soil moisture at a level so that the underground part does not dry out, otherwise the plant will die. At this time, the owner should not be afraid of the drying out of the leaves - in the spring it will be reborn.
When and how to transplant
The basic rules are the same as for all bulbs, which include drysiopsis. Home care for transplanted plants will begin no earlier than three days later, the first watering. The transplant pot is taken wide, for the formation of bulb children. The earth must be nutritious and loose to the right extent. A mixture of turf, humus and leafy soil with sand is best suited. The drainage layer is by all means, and not less than three centimeters thick. All ingredients of the mixture are taken equally. Young, growing flowers migrate annually. Adults who ceased to develop actively - in two or three years.
What you need to know about plant health
We can say that dreamiopsis is a very strong plant, successfully resisting pests and diseases. However, care mistakes may well undermine powerful health. For example, the appearance of whitish deposits on the ground indicates a lack of a drainage layer. Have to transplant the flower with the improvement of this parameter. Dark, dry spots indicate burns; move it to the side or provide shading. Fading leaves usually suggest that watering is insufficient. Cessation of growth - that it is time to transplant it into a more capacious pot.
What can Drimiopsis upset
For all its resistance to attacks of diseases and harmful insects, dreamiopsis can also worry. Care in the winter, if it was organized incorrectly, leads not only to falling leaves, which is a natural process, but also to rotting of the bulb, which is much more sad. It manifests itself by blackening of petioles; if such a phenomenon has been noticed - it is urgent to transplant the plant, removing damaged processes. The rotten part of the bulb will also have to be separated and prepared for a long nursing of the flower.
It may also happen that the dreemiopsis you are growing looks too pale. Home care (see photo above), or rather, its flaws - this is the culprit in stretching leaves, losing spotting and blanching of color. All signs indicate a lack of lighting. If you rearrange in a more lighted place - it will again begin to delight you with its appearance.
