Variety Red Delicious, whose apples are a red-fronted clone of the American variety Delicious, is the most popular in America. In the south of Russia, in industrial plantings, this type of fruit is very common. But, unfortunately, new plantings of young apple trees are extremely insufficient.
The appearance of the apple tree
What does a Red Delicious apple tree look like? The tree is medium in size. The crown of a young apple tree is oval or pyramidal. At the age when the first fruits are already beginning to appear, the crown becomes round or wide-angle.
The crown is formed by small branches, on which numerous shoots are located, giving the main fruiting. Shoots are small, red-brown color. The leaves are oblong-oval of medium size with a rounded base.

Studies show that the following substances are part of the fetus:
- sugar content - about 10%;
- solids - about 15.5%;
- acid content is about 0.51%;
- 100 grams of apple contains about 6 mg of ascorbic acid;
- 100 grams of product contains 130 mg of P-active substances.
An advanced variety with rough red skin has come to Russia. The original varieties of apple varieties were red-yellow in color.
Red Delicious apples are growing in many countries. Thanks to the rough peel, the apple is stored for a long time and less damaged during transportation. Its core is rich and crispy. The fruits have a sweet dessert flavor.
Fruits of this variety are preferably consumed fresh or used in the preparation of various salads and snacks as a final chord. Apples are high in vitamin C.
At the beginning of autumn, harvesting of the Red Delicious variety begins, the apples of which retain their structure and appearance until April, subject to all storage rules.
Almost any climate is suitable for growing apple trees, but dry is best. Apple trees do not tolerate winter, which, in turn, affects the quality of the crop and its quantity.

- Long shelf life. In the Red Delicious variety, apples can be stored in the refrigerator after harvest until February. Shelf life can be extended until April with the availability of special equipment in the premises.

- Small adaptation to growing conditions.
- During long storage, bitter spotting may appear.
Useful properties of apples
Red Delicious apples contain 80 kcal. The skin and pulp contain all the beneficial ingredients. Pectin, as well as dietary fiber, reduce the amount of cholesterol in the blood.
The average apple contains about 3 grams of dietary fiber, and about 2.7 grams in an apple without a peel. Thanks to dietary fiber, cholesterol is eliminated from the body. Thus, reducing cholesterol in the blood reduces the likelihood of diseases of the cardiovascular system.
Pectin binds toxic elements such as arsenic and lead, which enter the human body along with eating food. In addition, the constant use of apples improves digestion and metabolism in the body. Dietary fiber helps the free passage of food debris through the intestines.
The structure of the peel includes the antioxidant quercetin, which has a powerful effect. It prevents the destruction of cells, thereby reducing the likelihood of cancer of the digestive tract.
Variety Red Delicious (apples can be seen in the photo above) has gained fame due to the appetizing appearance of the fruit, as well as excellent storage and rough peel, which provides resistance to mechanical damage - all this made it possible to sell apples all year round.
