History

In the 60s, it was already assigned to the Moscow city administration. Naturally, the borders of the necropolis had to be extended. He reached the Moscow Ring Road. The burial area is divided into two large sections: Central (large) and Northern (smaller).
The current Vostryakovsky cemetery is adjacent to the places where the now liquidated Dragomilovskoye, whose middle name is Jewish, stood nearby. Most of the reburials fell on the Vostryakovsky site. Since then, the necropolis is considered Jewish. After all, it was there that the main rabbi of Moscow, Y. I. Mase, found his last refuge. And not only him! A large number of truly legendary personalities sheltered the Vostryakovsky cemetery. For example, few people know that the famous Ostap Ibrahim Bender, the protagonist of “12 Chairs” and “The Golden Calf”, had a real prototype - Osip Benyaminovich Shor. He is also buried here.
