Everyone knows that Dota-2 did not appear immediately. At the end of 2010, it was announced that the release was planned for 2011, but the project finally began to function only in 2013. Does this mean that for three years the game was without action? Of course not. At the end of 2011, closed beta testing was launched, then it was expanded by sending invitations by participants to friends. Then closed testing was replaced by open testing, in which everyone could take part. And when the developers decided that everything was already polished to the maximum, the official full version of the Dota game appeared. But for this article, the overall process is secondary. Here we will consider the history of the heroes of Dota-2: how they appeared in the game, who was first, and who was added later, which characters are better for beginners to manage, and which only experienced players should take on, and so on.
Start of development: January - April 2011
Naturally, work on the new project was carried out until 2011, but it was the characters who began to appear in the game at the beginning of this year. That is the story of heroes "DotA 2" starts in January 2011, when the number 18 was added Slardar hero. Of course, he is present in the game and still scares all opponents with his stunning skills. After that, for almost a month, work was carried out on the correction of errors detected by testers, various additions and improvements were developed. And only on February 12 was it announced the introduction of a new hero into the process - Enigma. This character got the opportunity to create his own copies, make opponents weaker, and also got a powerful ult - the creation of the Black Hole. But this was only the beginning, because after a week the developers were pleased that they added three heroes to the project at once - Faysles Void, Viper and Taini. An interesting fact is that the first characters all belonged to Dayr, that is, to the forces of evil - only Tiny was the Radiant. Void got the opportunity to deal with time (and he, by the way, did not get his final face right away), Viper got a rich arsenal of poisons, but Tiny became a rather unusual character. His figure grows in parallel with his pumping, becoming more and more - naturally, each of the options can be used to your advantage. March was not very fertile in terms of new characters, but April pleased immediately with five newcomers. They became Natural Prophet, Klokverk and Sniper from the side of Good and Venomancer with Dark Sir from the side of Evil. The first character was able to control the forces of nature, the second was equipped with a special harpoon and powerful metal armor, well, and the third with a rifle that hit the enemy from a great distance. As for the dark heroes, everything is simple - Venomancer combined the features of a poisoner and a necromancer, and Dark Syr uses his cunning, as well as forces from another dimension. Naturally, the story of the heroes of "Dota-2" does not end there - this is just the first step, followed by many more.
Mass addition of heroes: May - July 2011
Since May, a massive increase in characters has begun - the story of the Dota-2 heroes has become much more eventful. On May 20, Pugna and Bistmaster were added - the first hero has powerful abilities that can seriously harm the enemy, and the second can call various animals to help him. In less than a week, three more characters appeared in DotA - Shadow Find, Encantress and Leshrak. The first, definitely evil, has the ability to absorb souls, then use them against enemies, the second - on the contrary, definitely kind, which can enchant and create copies. Well, as for Leshrak, it is the exact opposite of Enchantress. He also uses the forces of nature, but for evil, to destroy and destroy, as well as bring himself profit. In June, the situation changed a bit - instead of large updates, developers focused on small ones, but this made them even bigger. And with each update a new character entered the game. The first was added Tinker, who does not have any special abilities, but handles weapons perfectly. He was followed by Weaver - a creature resembling a bug that has incredible speed and dexterity. Then Knight Stalker was added - one of the first confirmations that changing the time of day in the new DotA will be of great importance.
On June 17, a more impressive update was released, which added two characters at once - this is Encenter Apparition and Spectrum. Both heroes belong to the dark forces, only the first completely subjugated the element of ice, and the second with the help of a spectral dagger is able to instantly teleport to the enemy for a lightning insidious attack. Well, at the end of the month another update happened, which many were waiting for - a character named Doom Bringer appeared in the game. This hero can devour his and other creeps, cast curses and create hellish rain. He looks impressive, and conversations about him have been going on for quite some time.
After such a busy two months in July, only one new character appeared - Chen. He is able to subjugate animals to his will and use the power of his faith for the good of allies. It happened on the first of July, and after that only improvements were made to the characters left over from the first part of Dota, as well as those already added. Thus, in “Dota 2”, the characters for beginners are all who were before the development of the second part. After all, there are already certain guides and enough information on them. Beginning of beta testing: August - November 2011
August was completely put by the developers to correct errors, so there were no new characters in the game "Dota-2". Heroes for beginners did not stand out from the rest, as they also earned money and made quite different from what was in the first part. September also turned out to be loaded in terms of testing and fixing bugs, so during this month only one new character appeared in the project - Juggernaut. A supporter of the Radiant, he perfectly wields his homemade katana, moving from enemy to enemy with great speed and delivering crushing blows. But in October, the developers again took up the creation of characters, and already on the sixth in the game appeared Kunkka and Bloodsicker. The first became a kind of pirate knight, fighting on the side of the good, and the second - a terrible creature of Darkness, ready to drink the blood of anyone he met. After that, the hero of Ricky, who is a pure assassin, was introduced into the project - he quietly penetrates the battlefield, attacks the enemy from the rear and disappears. Then the time came for an impressive update for Dayr - on the side of Darkness came three more characters: Broodmazer, Queen of Payne and Skeleton King. The first heroine is the mother of spiders, which can create a dense and sticky web, and also call for the help of her children, the second is a succubus, for whom life is pain, and pain of others, and she happily inflicts it. And the third character is a skeleton that is obsessed with the urge to kill. In general, the company of Evil replenished with powerful heroes.
But this month did not end there - another major update brought Betraider, Huskar and Yakiro to the game. The first, who is on the side of darkness, as the name implies, travels on a bat, is able to drag the enemy into the distance, where he will deal with him face to face. The second is a valiant warrior who has the ability to receive strength from his own pain, and then turn the life of the enemy into real suffering. And the third is a dragon with two heads, one of which spews flame, and the other ice. When November came, the developers did not calm down. On November 3, keys were sent for closed beta testing, and with this, two new heroes appeared in the project, Dragon Knight and Omninight. Both of them are on the side of the Good, only one is a knight with the blood of dragons, and the second is a typical paladin who can attack with a sword and heal allies. Already during testing, Warlock and the Alchemist were also added to the game. The first is a master of dark magic, able to summon a huge Golem, and the second is a talented potions specialist who rides on Ogre’s shoulder. The Dota-2 game has become so unusual. Photos of the heroes naturally began to appear on the network, and everyone was enthusiastic about what the new project had turned into. But progress was not going to stop or slow down.
December 2011, January-February 2012
The end of the year was marked by the addition of four more characters to the Dota-2 game. Photos of the heroes instantly appeared on the appropriate resources, so closed testing gradually became obsolete, and the developers began to plan the transition to the open version. As for the characters themselves, these were Lifestyler, Death Prophet, Ursa and Bounty Hunter. Naturally, all of them were added during separate updates, but in the order that was indicated above. Life-stealer eats its opponents, Death Prophet is an analogue of the well-known ghost of Banshee, Ursa is a bear man, a powerful warrior and a serious opponent, and Bounty Hunter is a bounty hunter who combines anatomy and martial arts.
The new year began with the fact that in “DotA” there were four more characters during the three January updates. First, the company was joined by Spirit Breaker and Silencer. One of them came from another world, able to move incredibly fast, destroying everything in its path, and the other specializes in depriving opponents of the ability to cast spells and use abilities. Then Invouker, a powerful dark mage who knows a huge number of spells, was added. And the month ended with the addition of the awesome Klinkz. This is a bone archer, engulfed in flames and hungry for revenge. The game gradually gained a rating, acquired common features that the developers wanted to give it, so the momentum was slightly slowed down - in February the public saw only one new character - Outworld Devaurera, a brilliant villain who considers himself smarter than the rest and seeks to destroy everyone who is dumber than himself . March - May 2012
But you can’t stop reviewing the heroes of Dota-2 on this, because there are still plenty of them. And they were added not immediately, but gradually. For example, in March 2012, only four unique characters appeared, and Bein was the first among them. This dark magician is able to get to your greatest fears, fetch them out and use against you. Then Shadow Demon was added - one of the retired Hell overlords capable of casting a huge amount of dark spells. Behind him came Lycan - an evil werewolf who could turn into a wolf and attack opponents in this form. Well, the last March character is Lone Druid, who is not a werewolf, but has a strong connection with a bear, whose strength he uses in battle. In April, the developers again had a break in the creation of heroes, so only Brumaster was added, a brewer who, under the influence of alcoholic beverages, finds his own special fighting style. May updates were remembered to many players by the fact that a store appeared in DotA. However, few people remember that this month such characters as Phantom Lancer, Treant Protector and Ogre Mage were added to the game. The first one creates its own illusions with incredible speed, the second one hides in the forest and attacks its roots, at the same time supplying its partners with an extra layer of armor, well, and the third is an ogre that handles fire magic that it willingly applies against its enemies. June - September 2012
Since the question arose about which are the strongest heroes in Dota-2, it’s worthwhile to say right away that you can look for them among those who were added to the project in the summer of 2012. The fact is that it was this period that became very rich in characters. At the beginning of the month, a major update happened, which immediately added 3 heroes - the Knight of Chaos, Gyrocopter and the Phantom Assassin. More than a week passed before a new update appeared with another hero - this time Rubik became a newcomer. And at the end of the month two more unusual characters appeared in the game, who retained this fame throughout the entire existence of the project - the Moon and Io. The next month was no less fruitful. Already on July 5, Disruptor and Anding were introduced. A week later, Templar Assassin appeared, and after another week, the Naga Siren. But this was only the beginning - at the end of the month a big update came out, with which three heroes entered the game at once - Nyx Assassin, Keeper of the Light and Visage. After such an abundance of heroes, August did without any updates, and September was remembered only by the appearance of a strange creature named Mipo. Of course, this is not the best hero in Dota-2, but he has his own advantages. And everyone determines the best for himself.
End of the year: October - December 2012
As it became clear later, the summer of 2012 was the culmination of the theme of the characters in DotA. After that, the addition began to decline. New characters appeared on an ongoing basis, but with long interruptions and a little bit. Of course, you should also learn about their appearance - perhaps among them there is the best hero in Dota-2 for you personally. In early October, the world saw Magnus, and in the end, the Centaur Warraner joined him. In November, a year after the launch of Dota, Stark was added to beta testing for the first time, and the event was not timed to coincide with a significant day - the hero appeared on the 15th. Well, before the new year, in mid-December, the developers gave gamers a gift and presented Timberso, a rather original and impressive character. But many are interested in the new Dota-2 hero, the Oracle. Why so far there has not been a word about him? Perhaps you have mixed something up, because the Oracle appeared in one of the latest updates of 2014 - we will talk about it later, but for now we are talking about the end of 2012 and early characters.
In the new year - with new characters: January - March 2013
As mentioned earlier, no more massive updates with a huge number of characters were expected. The developers of "DotA" immediately announced that a month will appear one at a time, a maximum of two newcomers. That is why the new hero of “Dota-2” Oracle arrived so late - too many characters appeared before him. It is about them that we will talk now. In early January, an update occurred, with which Medusa came into the game, and at the end of the month, the Warlord troll followed. In mid-February, another hero was added - Tusk, but Bristleback had to wait until the end of March. But gamers already had something to do - they had plenty of characters at their disposal, so newcomers were just a nice bonus that significantly expanded the game’s universe. Each new hero in Dota 2 was still a holiday that the players were looking forward to.
Time for completion: April - July 2013
Naturally, the developers did not just abandon their project - they began to devote more time to improvements, corrections, balance fixes and other similar matters. Therefore, the next new hero in Dota-2, Skyvrat Mage, was again alone in his expansion, but with him the model for one of the characters was changed, and for a number of others new types of animation were added . On May 2, the gaming community waited for another new hero - Elder Titan. But then the most diverse mass improvements, improvements and fixes went on, and the next character appeared only on July 12 - it was Abaddon. Already at that time, the test of all the heroes of “Dota-2” took a huge amount of time. But each new character still brought an unprecedented amount of pleasure.

November 14th - it was then that the following two heroes appeared. Gamers had to wait a very long time. As you recall, the last update bringing a new character happened more than four months ago. Amber Spirit and Erth Spirit are those who have made the test of all the heroes of Dota -2 even more extensive. On December 10, a small surprise awaited users - Skeleton King disappeared from the game. Everyone was waiting for what would happen, but on the 12th, only a new hero was added - the Legion Commander. And suddenly on December 13 there was an unusual turn - Skeleton King was returned to the game, but was renamed King's Gate. Naturally, all textures and animations were changed, as well as the abilities of the hero. Thus, Skeleton King became one of those who are called the “unreleased heroes of Dota-2.”

Unfortunately, 2014 cannot boast a large abundance of new characters. The unreleased heroes of Dota-2 are a separate topic for discussion, but the latest characters are already something more interesting. On January 29, two characters were added at once - Terrorblade and Phoenix, after which the developers reported that in the near future no newcomers would be expected among the heroes. Therefore, if you want to create your own top Dota-2 heroes, then you can safely do this - you are unlikely to have to supplement the rating with a large number of characters. On September 4, however, the developers again pleased gamers by adding Tekis, the long-awaited newcomer, to the game. Creating a Dota-2 hero now is a real complex process, to which creators come back infrequently. But in November 2014, they still did it, and the last character to date was seen - Oracle. The hero of "Dota-2" was born on November 20, and since then there have been no updates with the heroes. Therefore, gamers can only play and wait for the news. At the same time, they can decide for themselves which heroes in Dota-2 are better suited for them and which are worse.
