Wedge scaffolds are a special design based on steel pipes for general purposes, which has locks with a self-braking element and quick fixation - wedges. They acquired a reasonable vocation, which expanded their use in construction due to the technical properties and design characteristics that make it possible to limitless use under any conditions. Compared to other types of temporary structures, such scaffolds are characterized by a greater tolerated load, stability and the ability to quickly disassemble and assemble.
Features of use
The rational use of scaffolding for various installation and construction works: the formation of concert frame platforms, roofing, warming the building, decorating and painting walls, erecting buildings from wood, stone, concrete and bricks.
On one square meter, steel pipes together with the flooring can withstand 500 kg. Also, wedge-shaped scaffoldings are used as a multifunctional tool for forming work sites at the required height.
Additional features include the possibility of assembling the supporting formwork by connecting horizontal and vertical components, fixing them with a reliable locking mechanism that prevents unauthorized separation. Parts with a load can be connected at the desired angles and in various planes, which makes it possible to implement the most complex project. This can be realized through the castle mechanism, which allows you to achieve maximum height. However, there are no restrictions when installing the design itself.
Installers do not have to make significant efforts, have experience and specific knowledge for the installation of formwork. During operation, no additional investments are required, and it does not take so much time to carry out the work. Wedge scaffolds have a structure that complies with established safety rules when carrying out work related to construction.
Basic structural elements
The following parts for creating a precast formwork relate to the basic parts:
- a vertical stand is the basis of the entire structure, it has a surface load, and it has a thickness of about 2-3 mm;
- the crossbar is used for fastening on horizontal racks when forming supports for laying decks; due to this, the scaffolds are reinforced for working with bricks, stone and other heavy building materials;
- a horizontal stand that allows you to connect and hold vertical elements from bending;
- the shoe acts as a supporting part for the upright;
- the starting part is a vertical with flanges, mounted on a jack and connected to similar elements to start work;
- diagonal - a binder to ensure structural strength;
- the jack is made in the form of a thrust bearing, has a screw device for adjusting the height of fastening with the vertical;
- a metal staircase with jumpers is mounted for free movement;
- the flooring allows you to place and carry the load, it is made of wood, steel or a combination thereof;
- An anchor bracket secures the wedge scaffolds to the wall at full height;
- the hinged console is mounted vertically to expand the area for work;
- the stabilizing support is a wall structure that protects the facade from possible obstruction.

Types of forests
On the market are various types of scaffolding from a variety of manufacturers that have a wedge-shaped base structure. They are considered the most popular LSK-100 and LSK-50. By the content of the elements they are identical, there is a difference in the thickness of the vertical posts, as well as in the general configuration, thanks to which it is possible to mount wedge scaffolding at the appropriate height marking.
Benefits
Among the positive aspects, it is worth noting the following:
- Reliable and durable device. Wedge scaffoldings have a high-quality combination of all parts (there is no possibility of spontaneous separation of the castle and the wedge) and increased load-carrying abilities (the design can withstand the total weight of materials for work, construction tools and equipment).
- Universality. They are used for the construction of various objects with any complexity and configuration.
- Simplified dismantling and assembly of wedge forests. Of the installation tools, a hammer is required to drive and pull the wedge out of the flange locks.
Safe operation
Full use of forests is possible only after the installation is fully completed. The technical engineer and safety specialist issue a written permit for operation after checking the finished design.
The responsibilities of the auditing technical commission include the following aspects for clarification:
- the presence of a protective fence in the forests;
- quality of fastening to the support;
- reliability of connection of nodes;
- appropriate level of structural elements on a rigid platform.
Before starting operation, the master checks the condition of all parts. If snow, ice or debris is found on them, construction work will not begin until the wedge forests are cleared. The design passport contains the values โโof the permissible load on the decks, while their strict observance is important.
Material supply
When transferring materials using a tower crane, it is forbidden to lift goods near the scaffolding in order to avoid damage to the elements, as well as the turn of the crane arrow during its simultaneous movement. If it is not possible to transfer passages from under the forests, then protective canopies are mounted above them to increase safety. Stationary lifts for the supply of materials and tools must be attached to the building itself.
It is worth noting that the lifting of goods by a tower crane should be under the supervision of a worker who gives the crane operator signs to change movement.
