It was obtained from the hybridization of two other varieties - apples "mac" and apples "papier". The Mliyev Experimental Gardening Station named after L. Simirenko. Breeders P. Tsekhmistrenko and L. Ro received a new kind of trees, which were called "glory to the winners." A variety of apples was bred by them in 1928.
These apple trees belong to late summer or summer varieties. The fruits ripen in the fall. Most suitable for them is the climate and soils of the central regions of the Russian Federation. However, now it is grown in almost all regions where they are engaged in industrial gardening, and it is also popular in the territory of the states of the former USSR.

This apple tree is a tall plant. It has a wide-pyramidal crown, which changes with age and acquires a highly rounded or highly oval shape.
The bark of the tree is brown. Its main branches extend from the main trunk in such a way that sharp corners form between them. Shoots, petioles and flowers of the apple tree
"Glory to the winners" is an apple variety that has straight shoots of brown color, on which dense small lentils are located. In apple trees growing in the nursery, the stems are weakly shriveled and shiny, have a reddish-brown color.
Not very large leaves have a round-oval or rounded shape, at the ends - short peaks. The color of the foliage is light green, giving a little yellowness. The leaf of the apple tree is smooth to the touch, slightly pubescent. At the base, it is slightly curved along the midrib.
Petioles do not have a bright color. This apple variety has lanceolate and small stipules.

In the Kuban, fruits begin to be harvested in early or mid-August. In more northern regions - by the end of summer. Gardeners from the Oryol region harvest at the very beginning of autumn and store it until the winter. In the southern regions, apples are stored for only two weeks.
After the apples have fully ripened, they begin to hold poorly on the branches. Their marketability was estimated at 80-90%.
“Melba”, “Vadimovka” and “Borovinka” are the best pollinators for apple trees “glory to the winners”. The apple variety is self-infertile.
The fruiting of the tree in the southern regions begins in the fourth or fifth year. In colder climates, the apple tree will begin to bear fruit later.

The undoubted advantages include the fact that this tree is winter-hardy and high-yielding. Perhaps that is why it got its name. There are many varieties of apples, but not everyone is able to survive the winter. Nutritional value and palatability of fruits are very high.

The disadvantages of the variety include its low drought tolerance. Another minus is the thickened crown, which requires special careful care.
