Initially, the place of rest was called Alexandrovsky Boulevard, but soon it received the name Gorodsky. This place got its modern name in 1876.

It began to grow seedlings of southern plants for storage in the winter. In the summer she was planted on the lawns. The presented park is also famous for this feature.
Further development of the park
Park "Lipki" (Saratov) was gradually developing, its trees were gaining strength, growing up. In the old days, an orchestra played here. A special site was even built for him. This music scene was removed over time.
In 1891, the collection of the park was supplemented by about 500 more trees and various shrubs. This served to increase the diversity of plant life.
In 1908, a forged fence was created by the forces of the workers of the Alexander Craft College. It was made in accordance with the sketches of the artist S. Chekhonin. This fence has survived to our times. It surrounds the park, giving a special mood, a touch of antiquity to this place. Architectural objects that are not available now

During World War II, the cathedral collapsed completely. By 1945, only empty ruins could be seen in its place. They were cleared and the Dynamo stadium was built here. It functions to this day.
Also on the alley of the park, where a memorial stone is now installed, there used to be a monument to M. Gorky. The young writer was depicted with a hat in his hand, and under it was the inscription "Man - it sounds proudly."
Garden today
Today the park of culture and recreation "Lipki" covers an area of about 4.7 hectares. It fits harmoniously into the central part of the city. Against the background of green crowns of trees, the monument to N. G. Chernyshevsky looks great.
The layout of the garden is very simple and unpretentious. This is one of the advantages of the place presented. Today, 16 species of shrubs and 34 species of trees grow in the park.
