Garvel Loken: biography
Garvel Loken - Captain of the 10th company of the Moon Wolves Space Marines Legion during the Great Crusade. Having shown success in the battle, he was promoted to Mornival, the Council of Senior Legion Officers who served as advisers to Horus. Since that time, he becomes the first witness to the events that led to the betrayal of Horus and the beginning of the Heresy of Horus.
History
Captain Loken's stamina and courage made him an officer of the Moonwolf Legion. His closest friend, Captain Tarik Torgaddon, became a mentor to Loken in military life, and ultimately contributed to his appointment to Mornival. Loken was promoted to Mornival after the battle for peace Sixty-Three Nineteen. He was also the only member of Mournival who did not have an external resemblance to Horus.
For some time, Loken enjoyed a privileged position in the inner circle of Horus. He got along well with his comrades in Mournal up to the uprising on Davin. However, when something mysterious began to happen around the Astartes, Loken suspected something was amiss and began an investigation. After a failed attempt at peace talks with Intereks, the Moon Wolves were renamed the Sons of Horus, confirming Loken’s fears that the previous image of the Legion is now in the past.
Studying the ancient history of Terra, by decree of the troubled mentor Cyril Sinderman and under the patronage of the chronicler Ignatius Karkazi, led Garvel Loken to conflict with the most powerful and influential Astartes in the 33rd Expeditionary Fleet (including Erebus, the first chaplain of the Word Bearers legion, and even with himself Warmaster Horus). When Horus was wounded on Davin, Loken and Torgaddon landed on the planet to try to find weapons that wounded the Warrior. Upon learning that the blade was created by metallurgists of kinebrachs, they realized that the weapon was stolen from Xenobia, the capital of the interreks. It was then that the betrayal of Erebus became apparent.
Ultimately, Horus longed for the death of Loken, and Loken, along with other loyalists, was sent to Eastvan III. When the viral bombardment failed to kill all the loyalists, Loken, Torgaddon and Saul Tarvitz led the survivors to take part in the final battle against the apostates. Garvel Loken fought to the last, like a loyal servant of the Emperor, refusing to give traitors all mercy. After witnessing the death of Tarik Torgaddon, Loken was wounded by the hand of his old comrade Ezekiel Abaddon, after which he was left on a planet later subjected to orbital bombardment.
Healing
It was believed that Garvel Loken died during the last bombardment on Eastvan III, but many months later the Astartes warriors, led by Nathaniel Garro , were sent to the planet by order of Malkador Sigillit to recruit a new warrior. Arriving on the ruined planet, which had long turned into a desert cemetery, they did not expect to find a surviving, abandoned Astartes. Rejected by death, he became distraught and could not remember his name. He called himself Cerberus - the only remaining loyalist until he met Garro and his warriors.
Seeing the warriors hostilely, the lone Astartes challenged Garro to a duel. Unable to overcome Cerberus physically, the leader of the warriors appealed to his faith and duty, reminding him of his true nature. At the time of enlightenment, Loken remembered everything and agreed to go with the Garro group. Before leaving Eastvan, Garro confessed to Loken that he was the last recruit that Sigillit had ordered to find, and that they would learn about the true purpose of the order upon returning to Terra.
Mission to Caleban
Loken's first mission brought him to Caliban, along with former comrade Yakton Cruz. The purpose of the mission was to verify the strength of the First Legion and their loyalty to Primarch Lyon El'Jonson. Loken allowed the Dark Angels to capture himself, hoping that Luther would interrogate him, and he could determine his loyalty. The assumptions turned out to be true, but the mission was too complicated. With the help of Cruise, Loken got out of captivity. The mission was failed, Loken returned to the moon.
In search of refuge, Loken finds a small abandoned dome of the Somnus Citadel, where he spends all his time restoring a small garden. At the same time, an old friend of Torgaddon visits him. He reminds Loken of the oath that he made when joining the ranks of Mornival, even if Mornival was no longer there: to defend the Imperium of Mankind, no matter what evil threatens him, to be faithful to the commander and primarch, and the eternal Emperor, standing above the primarchs. Torgaddon also warned menacingly that the traitors had done something terrible to him after death, and only Loken could fix it. Loken perked up, left the garden, and told Cruz that he was ready for the next mission.
Spirit of revenge
In his next mission, Loken appeared in a group of Wandering Knights. The mission's goal was to kill Horus. Loken and his crew were captured and brought before Horus. After intense negotiations with Horus, Abaddon, and Aximand, his former primarch gave Loken a chance to return. Despite the great temptation, Loken managed to resist, recalling the words of Euphraty Keeler. And the battle broke out ... During the battle, Horus killed Cruz, finally breaking the last chains connecting him with his primarch. Loken vowed that he would never stop fighting Horus. Shortly afterwards, the ship of the Wandering Knights attacked the Spirit of Vengeance. The further fate of Garvel Loken is unknown.
