During the construction of a country cottage, the choice of the type of foundation primarily depends on the characteristics of the soil in the selected area. The most problematic areas are those where there is a high level of groundwater, or, more simply, marshy soil. The most important thing in the design of construction work is to properly build the foundation in marshland. The reliability of the building as a whole and the observance of the necessary construction technologies in particular depend on this.

According to experienced builders, the only right way out for marshy soil is to install piles. Such a foundation in a swampy area is able to reliably protect the building from negative external factors that can harm the structure. True, it is worth noting that the device of this type of fortification is not an easy task. Installation of piles should be carried out using special equipment and requires complex engineering calculations. That is, if you want your building to stand for many years, you need a special approach to the matter.
A pile foundation in marshy areas is constructed as follows: through special equipment, the elements are driven deep into the ground. Sometimes bored piles are used instead of the usual ones . Such elements are not required to score. In their shape, these piles resemble giant screws that are firmly screwed into the soil to a predetermined depth.
Making foundations for marshy terrain from piles is considered the most reliable. The fact is that the bearing elements have a very long length, when installed, they penetrate into the deepest layers of the earth, bypassing the washed out ground masses. The deep layers have an impressive bearing capacity, so that the piles, relying on a reliable foundation, can withstand any load.
However, it is worth considering that a pile foundation in marshy areas is not cheap. Despite all its advantages and structural strength, most of our compatriots, unfortunately, simply cannot afford this option. However, there are much simpler, but at the same time reliable types of foundations for marshy areas. Moreover, they can be made independently and without special costs.
First you need to clear the place for future construction from excess soil. As a rule, about 40 centimeters are removed. Then the site should be covered with a mixture of fine gravel and building sand, carefully tamped. Road plates are laid on top - itβs not necessary to buy new ones, used ones are quite suitable for this. On the laid slabs, it is necessary to install a wooden formwork, on top of which the usual foundation of the tape type is poured.
It is worth noting that this method is suitable for the construction of log cabins from timber or wooden cottages. This technology will increase the stability of the base of a wooden house several times. And this is very important, because the stability of the foundation during the construction of a building in a swampy area is the main requirement.
