More than ever, various dyes are in demand, with the help of which the product acquires an aesthetically attractive appearance, as well as properties that help it withstand the aggressive effects of the external environment.
Epoxy paints also belong to such substances.
What it is?
This is a thermosetting powder material that has been developed for a very long time, but is still widely used in industry to this day. Note that these substances can form very high-quality coatings with high decorative properties, but most often they are used for painting various industrial and industrial devices and machines. Their composition is extremely diverse.
Advantages
Another advantage is their high functionality: depending on the type of resin or hardener used, epoxy paints can be used to create coatings with predetermined properties.
For example, if you choose the right composition, then such a dye is quite possible to use in the manufacture of equipment for the food industry. Unfortunately, the widespread distribution of such products is hindered by the fact that they have little resistance to atmospheric precipitation.
Areas of use
Most often they paint industrial equipment, protecting the latter from corrosion. In addition, these paints have high dielectric properties, and therefore are widely used in energy.
Due to the latter circumstance, epoxy paints have become an excellent alternative to many types of inconvenient insulators, previously widespread in industry: compounding, impregnation with low conductivity varnishes and wrapping with insulating materials.
It is due to the presence of such a large number of useful properties that are advantageously combined with their low cost, epoxy paints not only survived dozens of years of operation, but also practically replaced many types of traditionally used insulating agents.
The properties
As we have already said, these substances are highly resistant to various kinds of aggressive chemical environments.
Considering that they withstand the effects of industrial oils, alkalis, acids and oil products, they began to be widely used in the
oil industry for painting the internal parts of pipelines. Only 500 microns of this synthetic material deposited on the pipe wall completely isolate it from the action of aggressive media.
Among other things, the epoxy-based paint practically does not burn, and therefore protects the electrical equipment well in case of severe overheating.
It is extremely easy to apply such paints to the surface, as they have high adhesive properties. So, even sufficiently corroded and previously somehow processed metals can be painted with them without preliminary preparation.
In addition, epoxy paint for tiles has recently been widespread even in everyday life, as it can be used to easily restore an old tile, completely covering all its shortcomings.
