Decking is increasingly gaining ground in the construction and arrangement of houses and territories. At first we saw red and green fences made of this material. They seemed the limit of perfection and envied the neighbors. Now the range is expanding and replenished with original color schemes. More and more people use corrugated board. But how to choose the right type so as not to lose in quality and not overpay? For example, corrugated board C8 and C20. What is the difference between the two?
Purpose of corrugated board
These are metal sheets having a wave or trapezoid shape on a slice. They are valued for durability, relative cheapness, nice appearance. Used as a facing material. They are mainly used for:
- roofing;
- wall coverings;
- fences.
The corrugated sheet reflects noise well. It is easy to install and easy to care for. That is, special care for products made of such material is not necessary. The main thing is to protect from strong physical exertion, shock. They can damage the relief of the sheet, which will lead to a decrease in the decorative properties of the structure.
Is any sheet of corrugated board suitable for these tasks? No, for each type of building you need material with certain qualities.
It:
- wave height;
- profiling form (wave-shaped or trapezoidal);
- sheet thickness;
- coating material.
Decking can be of several types, which have their own names. This is H, NS, MP, C, to which the C8 and C20 professional flooring belongs. What is the difference between the two? Marking depends on the thickness of the sheet and the height of the “wave” formed after stamping (which is often a trapezoid or has a more false shape, but the name is preserved). The sheet marked C is the weakest, marked with the letter H - more powerful.
But one type of corrugated board C8 and C20. What is the difference between the two? They have different wave heights.
It is very easy to find out this value. The wave height is indicated in the name by the number at the end. The smaller this value, the larger the finished corrugated sheet will be in relation to the original. But at the same time, his level of external resistance is lower. So, for the construction of fences, sheets with a lower profile are used than for the roof. For a full roof, you need a decking with a wave height of 35 mm (sheet NS-35). From corrugated board you can even create load-bearing floors. But for this you need a sheet from H-57 to H-75.
The thickness of the sheet is from 0.4 mm to 1.6 mm. Naturally, it is difficult to distinguish it by eye or even measure it at home. This is sometimes used by sellers. They sell a cheaper sheet 0.4 mm thick at the cost of one that is several tenths of a millimeter thicker. At first glance, the difference is small. But when buying a large number of sheets, the overall purchase size increases, and, therefore, the difference in price.
Decking coating
Decking can be galvanized or have a polymer coating. Galvanized are often used to enclose building sites. The polymer coating can be applied on one side. Then the other will be covered with a gray primer. The colors of the polymer coating can be either monophonic (red, green) or multi-colored. Now more and more popular are professional sheets that imitate natural materials: stone, wood and brick. Structures from such sheets look much richer and more attractive. The sheets are covered with polyester, matte polyester or Granite Cloudy (roofing that creates the effect of tiles). Increasingly, bilateral are used, painted in the same color on both sides. This is a green and brown professional sheet. The advantage of such structures is a natural look.
There are no differences between sheets with different waves. The same color can have corrugated C8 and C20. What is the difference between them except wave height?
Both of them are manufactured by cold rolling on special machines of galvanized steel. Do not rust, well withstand any climate change.
The length of one sheet can be from half a meter to 12 meters. But be sure it is a multiple of 5 cm.
C8 professional flooring
Its dimensions can be different, but the wave height is 8 cm. The sheet of C8 corrugated board is a light and durable facing material. Its area is slightly larger than with other heights. If the overall width of the sheet is 1200 mm, then 1150 mm will be useful.
Therefore, it is very popular. It is used for the construction of partitions, ceilings. They can drape the ceiling and walls. Suitable for creating fences.
C8 metal decking is very popular among developers and owners of private buildings because of the low price and decent quality.
When calculating the required number of sheets, it is taken into account that the working length will be slightly less due to overlapping with the next sheet. The wave has a trapezoidal shape.
C20 professional flooring
The wave height is almost 2 times greater than that of C8. And, therefore, it is more powerful, but has a smaller area in relation to the original sheet. If the overall width is 1150 mm, then only 1100 mm will be useful. It is used for more stable and durable structures, because it is more resistant to external influences than C8. Well suited for the construction of the fence. It can be used to cover roofs. It is considered a universal professional sheet.
Profiling is also in the form of trapezoid, but the upper bases of the outer and outer parts are different.
The professional sheet MP 20 has a wavy profile at a wave height of 20 mm.
Price
The cost has a different flooring. The price per sheet depends on the thickness of the sheet, the height of the wave, the quality of the coating. So, for a sheet C8 with a working width of 1150 mm from galvanized steel, it ranges from 175 to 290 rubles. with a sheet thickness of 0.4 to 0.7 mm. If the coating is polyester, the price will be in the range from 208 to 365 rubles. 324 rub double-sided professional flooring will cost.
The price for a C20 sheet with a full width of 1150 mm from galvanized steel will cost from 181 to 302 rubles. A sheet with a polyester coating has a price from 220 to 405 rubles. Bilateral costs 333 rubles.
Sheet Geometry Requirements
A sheet with a completely flat surface is difficult to obtain. The presence of some scuffs and scratches that do not destroy the coating are allowed. The wave height cannot deviate from the norm by more than 2 mm. For width, this value is 8 mm, for length 10 mm.
The waviness of the flat sections should be no more than 1.5 mm, on the locks 3 mm.
As you can see, there is no special price difference between the professional sheets C8 and C20. Therefore, when choosing the type of corrugated board, you must first of all take into account the conditions in which it will be operated.
