The Molitovsky bridge gained notoriety among Nizhny Novgorod residents, largely due to the terrible accident that occurred there. This news was broadcast on all the news and was discussed for a long time in the kitchens. It would seem that rumors of accidents are not so uncommon, but for some reason this case seems especially scary.
Details of the tragedy
The accident on the Molitovsky bridge occurred on June 1, 2016. At that time, the bridge was already closed for repairs. Bridge repair
To date, the repair of the Molitovsky bridge has already been completed. In the fall, its grand opening took place. Recall that it took about six months to repair the structure. Initially, it was planned to repair certain sections of the road in turn, so as not to completely block traffic. However, the tight deadlines required to completely bridge the bridge.
The design was completely ready already on November 1, but the opening was postponed to the 4th. This is due to the Day of National Unity. According to tradition, on this day the townspeople receive something useful from the authorities, and the Molitovsky bridge in Nizhny Novgorod was such a gift.
During the repair, the workers changed the roadbed, updated the water drainage system and waterproofing, repaired the tram tracks and partially replaced the concrete layer. The warranty for various types of repairs ranges from four to eight years. So it remains to be hoped that a new repair will be needed soon.

According to the head of the city administration, the authorities had a choice: close the bridge completely for 5 months, or take turns to repair different sections for two years. Apparently, they made their choice.
Already on the Molitovsky bridge, vehicles travel along those routes as before the repair. And although car traffic was planned to be launched on November 4 at half-past ten in the morning, some particularly frisky drivers tested the new bridge the night before.
By the way, the maximum permissible speed with which you can move across the bridge has increased. If earlier there was a limit of 40 km / h, now it is brought to 60 km / h. And this, recall, the maximum allowable speed in the city.
Local discontent
The completion of the repair will greatly facilitate the life of Novgorodians. All these five months from one end of the city to the other had to get almost three hours: such inconveniences were roundabouts. Therefore, some did not consider the idea of closing the bridge completely as such a successful decision.
However, all the grievances can be left in the past: Novgorod motorists can safely ride on the new surface. Nevertheless, the question remains for many: is it long enough? And do not have to, or in a few years to experience the same inconvenience again?
