Nords of Skyrim: race description and photos

Today we decided to plunge into the fantasy world of the game universe of the "Old Scrolls" and tell our readers about one of the most interesting races - the standards of Skyrim. Known as the "Children of Heaven," these people are indigenous to northern Tamriel. As a rule, they have a high endurance threshold and high frost resistance - innate talents developed by the Nords in the conditions of eternal frost. They are a people of excellent warriors and mercenaries, their skills and strength are widely known and appreciated by every resident of Tamriel.

About Skyrim

The Nordlings currently occupy the northern province of Tamriel. This is not a real homeland for them - the first settlers arrived from a completely different continent. However, despite this, Skyrim has long been a native place for all the Nords.

The northern province is often called the Old Kingdom, or Fatherland. The weather is harsh and cold, most of the time here is winter. In those short periods when the seasons change and summer comes, Skyrim just blooms.

This part of Tamriel has always been perceived by other nations stereotypically. It is believed that Skyrim is best avoided: not only because of icy winds and endless snow, but also because of the special attachment of the Nords to mead and fights, for which there is no special reason.

Skyrim - for the Nords!

The northern province has become home to some of the most interesting peoples from the Ancient Scrolls. From the other inhabitants of Tamriel, the Nords are tall and have fair hair. In battle, they show a lot of aggression and fearlessness, and in peaceful areas of life, for example, in the role of traders or travelers, they show industriousness and enterprise. Nords often visit port cities and coastal settlements, as they are often skilled sailors.

For Nordic culture, power is a common and natural characteristic. Whatever the profession, any Nordic warrior from Skyrim can always easily demonstrate first-class handling of any kind of weapon and armor. Their fierce ferocity, with which the northern people were accustomed to engage in battle, shocked and frightened many opponents more than once.

Skyrim for the Nords

Another cultural feature of almost all Nords is the fact that they have an ancient dislike of the elven race. Such a view suggests that it is the Nords who are one of the few races that have managed to maintain their own thoroughbred. It is believed that the first natives of this people could live a very long life, and their military leaders destroyed entire fortresses using only the power of voice.

For modern descendants of the Atmorians, this is hardly possible, but in terms of courage and fury in the battle, they simply have no equal. The only ones that can equal the take off in force are the redguards.

History of occurrence

Initially, the first settlers of the northern part of Tamriel were descendants of the Elnofi living on the Atmor continent. It was from there that the first group of northerners arrived, who were known as Atmors and Nords.

Not all colonial people liked the idea of submission to the elven caste. Ysgramor, his family and other refugees managed to escape the devastation caused by the civil war in Atmor and relocate to Skyrim. Fortunately, the settlers did not meet any aggression from the elven people of the Falmer, who at that time occupied this part of Tamriel.

As time passed, and Isgram finally managed to become more than just a refugee. With the support and help of his Atmor brothers, he laid the foundation for the city of Saartal. Together with a new place of residence, a new name came for the settlers themselves - they began to be called the ancient Norms of Skyrim.

As for Ysgramor, after his death he was buried next to Winterhold, on an island located in the waters of the Sea of Ghosts. Together with them his best warriors found peace. Also in the tomb you can find several legendary objects that belonged to Isgram during his lifetime. It is believed that the legendary weapon of the Skyrim Nords is hidden there: we are talking about the Wootrad pole ax, a combat shield, and also a soup spoon-fork, which, although it is a funny thing, is still perceived as an ancient artifact.

About culture

Each Nord is not only a skilled warrior, but also an excellent wood craftsman. The traditional details and the style inherent in the buildings of this people can be seen in the examples of the cities of Waitran and Brum.

Skyrim Nord Armor

Any house is built using stone and wooden materials. During construction, emphasis is always placed on maximizing the preservation of heat within the premises. Often you can find buildings with ground floors underground. A similar style can be found on the island of Solstheim.

As for relations with other races, the Skyrim nords are quite hospitable towards foreigners (especially when compared with the Danmers). However, they still have open hostility and bias towards the elven side. To obtain the status of a citizen in the Nordic territory, it is necessary to approach certain standards, which are dictated by a special set of rules.

Many Nordlings are still very superstitious; their many myths and legends often become the basis for military traditions and hunting art.

About religion

Belief in one or another deity has always occupied an honorable place in the history of any nation. As for the Nords, their religion changed depending on different time periods. They managed to build a cult for a wide variety of deities, many of which still have weight in their daily lives.

When the northern people left Atmora, he brought with him a dragon cult. Together with him, totemic spirits were widely spread. Since that time, images of worship have been found throughout the earth, in architecture and even on clothing: bears, wolves, dragons, owls, and many others.

In parallel with this, many Nords shared another faith, the basis of which became a single God - the All-Creator. Nedas settled on Solstheim Island brought it with them. Their traditions regarding community and religion lasted about four thousand years. It is also worth mentioning that the All-Creator had an antoganist enemy known as Hermeus Mora. He performed the role of a demon of knowledge, who tempted a simple person to bring out his secrets.

With the advent of the treacherous dragon Priests, war broke out. Its outcome was the complete destruction of the cult of the Dragons. After this, faith in other deities was strengthened, among which were Kin, Stana, Shor and others.

According to the information on one loading screen of the game, Morphal got its name from Morihaus, also known as Keen's Breath. This is an ancient hero god, worshiped by the Cyrodiilians and the Nords. The main urban symbol was the image of the breath, the personification of Tu'um. - this can be seen on any flag or shield.

passage of Skyrim north

Nordic speech is rich in special statements with various references to the old gods, for example, to Shor or Ismir. Not a single emotional remark is complete without such phrases as “Shorovy bones” and “Ismirova beard”, and this is only a small part of such examples.

At a time when the Alessian Empire ruled the earth, the followers of the prophet Marucca told the inhabitants of Skyrim about the One God, hoping to spread their faith to other nations. However, the idea could not take root. The time of worship of the old gods also began to come to an end - it was supplanted by the influence of the Imperial pantheon.

Several centuries passed, and the outstanding deeds of Talos were able to leave a special mark in the history of Tamriel - the nords assigned him the status of a compatriot. His accomplishments in life led to subsequent deification. With the advent of Talos, the northern people finally assimilated their faith with the imperial. This is not to say that absolutely all the Nords have switched to a new religion. In Skyrim, you can still stumble upon an adherent of the old faith, scolding the modern disposition of society. However, most of the Nordlings have changed a lot.

Who are the skaals?

Among all the Nords, one can distinguish one separate group living on the island of Solstheim. We are talking about the people of the Skaals, who prefer to exist at the expense of unity with the forces of the earth; they take only the essentials to survive. They are also distinguished from their brethren by worship of the All-Creator, which, in turn, is the preservation of primordial faith.

As we have already mentioned, such a religion implies the presence of an antagonist in it, and in this case, this role is assigned to Herma Mora. Skaals believe that the demon hunts for their secrets, and that it began from the moment when the people first set foot on the land of Solstheim to create a community.

Cultural aspects, which are closely tied to coexistence with the forces of nature, find responses in everyday life. In addition, the skaals erected several dozens of sacred elemental stones, which were scattered throughout the entire territory of Solstheim. The climate on the island is particularly severe, which makes the community fight every day for their existence. None of the skaals are afraid to die. They maintain the belief that souls fall into the kingdom of the All-Creator, after which they will be reborn in new bodies.

By nature, this people is very friendly and hospitable, they are always ready to share stories from their lives with strangers; This quality makes them valuable storytellers for all researchers and writers.

passing game Skyrim for the north

It is the skaals who know how to use stalgrim - enchanted ice that used to be used to seal tombs. It is particularly durable and very appreciated among the masters due to its interesting magical properties. With the help of stalgrim, you can create a truly special set of weapons or armor.

Playing for the north

Unlike previous "Ancient Scrolls", in the fifth part of the series, the character’s race plays a more important role than before. Previously, to personalize the hero, it was enough to choose the settings for the class, basic skills and zodiac signs - after that, a pretty self-sufficient hero turned out. Now it is very important to pay attention to the races, since each of them has a predisposition to special characteristics.

Passing "Skyrim" in the north will endow the player with the following features:

  • +10 points to the skill of owning two-handed weapons, +5 points are given for blacksmithing, blocking, one-handed weapons, eloquence and light armor;
  • Nords in Skyrim get 50% resistance to cold temperatures. A very useful property that allows the north to not freeze in open frost;
  • ability to fire and healing spells;
  • a special skill that allows you to take flight of all enemies nearby for thirty seconds.

Presets nords in "Skyrim" are considered one of the prettiest. Outwardly, they resemble the purest Aryans, so if you want to play someone similar to a person from our world, then the representatives of the northern people cope with this task best of all. The game uses Scandinavian names.

The Skyrim Nord is a classic warrior. He can easily tear down the heads of opponents with his huge ax and at the same time know how to handle a sword and shield. At the height of the battle, they often take a thirty-second respite - which is similar to the Imperials.

Passing the game "Skyrim" for the north may seem somewhat easier than for representatives of other races. This is mainly due to the natural resistance to cold weather, which every nordling is endowed with. This feature is almost the best in all Skyrim. Why such a statement? It's simple, because Skyrim is a cold land, which is a northern province. In addition to the very unfriendly weather, ice magic is often used against the hero. Also, many dragons have the ability for cold breathing, not fire.

And of course, long walks through frozen dungeons can turn any traveler into the ice. Passing "Skyrim" in the north will help to avoid such a harsh fate. In numerous ancient tombs, the traveler will encounter the Vikings who have risen from the dead, whose favorite pastime is to freeze all the strangers that they see. We will have to go to such places often, so the choice of the Nord race can be very helpful when passing.

Specialized equipment

Skyrim game for the north

In the game you can find a wide variety of different armor and weapons. There are also kits that are called certain races, but are suitable for absolutely everyone. Among them there is specialized equipment for Nordling, or in another way - ancient Nordic armor. This heavy armor becomes available for manufacture after the hero completes the Companions quest line. Also, the skill “Blacksmithing” must be pumped to the twentieth level, which will lead to the emergence of a new skill, “Steel Armor".

Skyrim Nords armor is made from steel and iron ingots, as well as from pieces and strips of leather. All materials belong to the Sky Forge, where specialized Nordic equipment is created. After the armor is ready, it will be possible to improve the armor with a workbench - for each element, one iron ingot.

It is also worth noting that additional sets can be added to the game by installing various mods on the armor of the north. Skyrim has always been and remains a project that openly supports the creativity of fans and allows you to add third-party content.

Conflict and Civil War

The plot of the fifth part of the "Ancient Scrolls" tells not only about the mythical and fantasy side of the world, but also about the political. One of the main places in history is occupied by the conflict between the Imperial Legion and the Storm Brothers.

The events that led to the civil war attribute the player to the Markart incident. This historical period was remembered by the people of Tamriel as a confrontation between Ulfric Petrel and Outcasts, who tried to turn the Reach into a city independent of Skyrim. Victory went to the first, but when the Empire wanted to take control of Markarth, he refused. Ulfric demanded free worship of Talos, while the imperial side had their own plans for a universal religion.

The streets of Markarth continued to bleed, many people were dying, and there was no end to constant disorder and unrest. Finally, the Empire decided to meet, allowing the Nords to conduct traditional ceremonies. After some time, this decision reached the emissaries of the Talmor, who ensured that all the conditions of the White Gold concordat were fulfilled. Their response was to force the Empire to strictly observe the Concordat conditions.

ancient nordic skyrim

Upon learning of this, Ulfric saw betrayal of the northern people and devoted himself to creating the Storm Brothers - a group whose main goals were to get rid of the shameful agreements with the elven side and preserve Skyrim for the Nords. The civil war began at the moment when the Petrel dealt with the supreme King, summoning him to a duel in Solitude. In the same city, the forces of the Imperial Legion settled down, while the rebels found their place in Windhelm. Since then, very often in the open spaces of Tamriel you can hear the phrase familiar to many players: "Skyrim - for the Nords!"

Storm Brothers Party

In order to become one of the rebels, the hero will have to take the appropriate quest. If after the events that unfolded at the very beginning of the game, we managed to escape in the company of Ralof, then he will share with us very interesting information. Since he is a member of the rebels, we will learn from him about the unfolding Civil War, and we will also receive an offer to join the Storm Brothers.

There is another scenario, provided that the protagonist made a choice towards the Imperials during the escape from Helgen. In this case, in order to get the quest, we will have to find one of the many rebel camps that are scattered throughout Skyrim and talk to any of the inhabitants.

After our character finds out about the Civil War and the existence of the Storm Brothers group, a new quest will appear in the quest diary. We will be required to visit the northern city of Windhelm, where the Jarl and Uprising leader Ulfric Petrel live. We already know him - this is the same prisoner with a gag in his mouth, with whom we arrived in Helgen.

Jarl will introduce us to his faithful adviser named Galmar, who will immediately be interested in our motives. He will be especially surprised that someone who is not a Nord decided to fight for the Storm Brothers (if the player chose any alternative race for passing). In this case, you can tell Galmar that not only the Nordlings live in Skyrim, that many want to get rid of imperial control. After that, our magazine will be updated with a new introductory task, which will launch one of the chains of story quests.

Skyrim Nords presets

For even deeper insight into the story, we recommend that you also try a third-party supplement called Blood of the Nords. The mod on "Skyrim" is installed directly, through the corresponding line in the "Steam". He will add several new assignments to the plot of the confrontation between the Imperials and the rebels, available to those who chose the side of the Storm Brothers. To activate the history of the mod, you will have to complete the Civil War quest. When the events of the last battle come to an end, our hero must visit the Gloomy Castle of Solitude, where he will be met by another Brothers officer, Hrolf. From him we will receive a new task. Prior to the start of Blood of the Nords, it is recommended that you upgrade to level thirty.

Players receive a lot of unique content, among which are:

  • over five hundred new replicas with full voice acting;
  • one new type of weapon;
  • previously unexplored dungeons and locations;
  • the possibility of variable passage;
  • about two hours of gameplay.
