The art museum is located in the first public building made of stone, which was built back in 1927 and belonged to the Transport Consumer Society. Unfortunately, during the war years it was badly damaged - the fragile glass dome was destroyed, but it was the main decoration. Contemporaries did not restore it, but the building itself was reconstructed when it was under the authority of the Department of Culture.
