Gas-generating furnaces - a good alternative to boilers

Gas-generating furnaces

If you appear periodically in your country house, then in the cold season you will inevitably have a question regarding the quick heating of the room without the consumption of electricity, gas, and also waiting for the wood stove to warm up. Gas-generating furnaces are capable of quickly and economically heating a room. It is worth describing them in more detail.

When we sit by the fireplace, we become warm due to the thermal radiation of an open flame. Gas-generating furnaces heat the air flow, which is then transmitted to the room. There is no burning with an open flame, in this case there is a pyrolysis process. This process refers to the thermal decomposition of combustible materials with a lack of oxygen: substances smolder without flame, like coal, being converted into a mixture consisting of combustible gases. Although all this description may seem complicated and incomprehensible, a gas-fired long-burning furnace has a fairly simple device. It consists of two chambers equipped with dampers, a chimney and air exhaust pipes. In the first chamber, which is called the gasification chamber, a rigid combustible mixture is converted into a mixture of combustible gases. In the second, which is called the afterburner, this mixture is burned in the usual manner, as in the burner of a conventional stove. Air ducts pass through the afterburner. In them, air is drawn in through the lower openings, where it quickly heats up, and then enters the room through the upper openings.

Long burning gas generator
It turns out that gas-generating furnaces themselves make fuel - gas, and then they themselves burn it, warming the air, which is then fed into the room. As fuel materials, you can use brown coal, wood chocks, wood fines, peat briquettes, sawdust, cardboard, wood chips, that is, any solid combustible materials. Do not feed large pieces of coal-anthracite coal into the furnace , since it burns at a very high temperature, from which the furnace can simply overheat. Logs of any wood species are ideal, as they are environmentally friendly, cheap, give a good gas yield, and also practically do not leave ash.

Gas stoves reviews
Gas stoves, reviews of which you will like, are simply melted. Fuel is put into the chamber and set on fire. After the flame ignites, you can close the door, and then cover more than half the air damper. The thermal efficiency of such a device is as high as possible and reaches 80%, that is, 4/5 of all the material here is converted to heat, while in an ordinary wood-burning stove this figure is 5-7%, and everything else just flies into the pipe. Depending on the design of the stove, it is able to work on one tab of firewood for 5-12 hours, that is, there is no need to constantly stand by the stove as a stoker. The device itself is almost not heated. From the beginning of the furnace to the complete heating of the room, no more than half an hour passes, which is an indicator of high efficiency.
