Clothing can tell a lot about its owner. Judging by the clothes, one can determine the standard of living, character traits, degree of education and upbringing, social status, etc. Age is considered one of the most important factors when choosing clothes. Surely you have noticed that young people prefer mostly bright and even flashy clothes, while adults prefer neutral tones.
The history of the subculture dudes
In the 40s in the USSR, people preferred clothing in dark colors, the music was monotonous. This situation caused outrage among young people who wanted more colors and emotions. This was the reason for the emergence of a youth subculture called "dudes".
In the postwar period, people who traveled abroad got the opportunity to learn about fashion trends in Western life. Merchants and diplomats brought bright clothes to their children. And these young people also had a specific slang, they were addicted to foreign music and dancing. Thus, the subculture represented a certain opposition to social norms. Dresses

Dresses were often complemented by various lace and ruffles. After some time, the dresses became narrower and the length became shorter.
Skirts
Midi skirts are widespread among dudes. They were very magnificent, reminiscent of the bottom of the dresses discussed above. The splendor of the girl was achieved through the use of a large number of petticoats. Over time, the skirts became less lush and shorter.
Trousers
As a bottom, women dudes began to use trousers. In combination with trousers, they often wore colorful socks. Since the pants were shortened, bright socks could always be seen. The style of the trousers was different, the most popular were narrowed or flared models. Already in the 60s, pants-pipes, which are popular among women to this day, have entered the women's fashion.
Blouses
As for the top, the dude girls preferred simple-cut blouses. The collars of such blouses were sharp or rounded. Top sleeves were most often absent, but could be shortened. A distinctive feature of the blouses was that they did not have shoulder pads.
Cardigans
The dude girls wore jackets as outerwear. The style was distinguished by the presence of pockets in the shape of a square and extended shoulders, the collar was often absent.
How did the dude men dress
Women's fashion has always been more diverse than men's. However, in this subculture, men are not particularly inferior to beautiful ladies in an abundance of various images.
At first, when the subculture was just in its infancy, the male part of the representatives of the dudes preferred wide pants of bright colors. Also a characteristic feature of how the dudes of a man dressed were hats with wide brim. The funniest element of a man’s wardrobe can be called colorful socks that always looked out from under trousers. Men-dudes had in their wardrobe several jackets that were not quite typical for the Soviet era, which differed in their style and color. The jackets sat freely (baggy), were double-breasted, had bright colors characteristic of the dudes. Shirts were made of silk fabrics, often resembled Hawaiian. In the cold season, men of this subculture wore deer sweaters. Often the image was complemented by a bright tie, which was almost a must-have accessory. Ties had an unusual print, for example, a monkey or a dragon could be depicted on them. More men wore colored suspenders. As men, dudes chose high-soled shoes.
After some time, elegance appeared in the men's wardrobe of the dude (as in the women's). Wide trousers were replaced by narrow pipes. Jeans began to become very popular. Funny and ridiculous ties were replaced by herring ties.
However, the changes in the men's style of the dudes did not end there. In the 60s, strict cloaks and coats in the English style appeared in their wardrobe. Costumes made of wool were fashionable among the dudes. Jackets of gray color became widespread, from which a scarf peeked out of their pockets. No less common were Stetson hats. The shoes of the dudes were American soldiers' shoes or shoes with perforated toe.
