Gerbera flower is a perennial plant and looks like the usual camomile for us. This family has more than 100 different species. In nature, the plant is common in South Africa, South America, China, India, Japan, gerbera flowers come in a wide variety of colors, there are not only blue specimens.

Gerbera flowers that are grown at home, almost all are hybrids and are derived from the Jameson gerbera and green leaf gerbera. Gerber Jameson has a thick and short stem and a very well developed root system. The leaves are covered with small villi, and on long peduncles beautiful flowers appear , which in diameter can be from 5 to 15 centimeters.
Gerbera flowers are often grown on balconies or in apartments. After the plant blooms, the flowers last up to 3 weeks, and after they are cut, they can stand in the water for the same time. If you decide to grow the specified plant at home, then take care to create good lighting for it. The soil should be constantly moist, but its overmoistening should not be allowed. After watering, after 10-20 minutes it will be necessary to drain excess water from the pan. Drainage holes must be constantly monitored and not blocked.
Gerberas are very fond of light and heat, the soil should be slightly acidic. During their abundant watering, water should not be allowed to enter the outlet of the leaves, especially the basal ones. In warm regions of the country, this plant feels good in open ground. If you grow gerberas indoors, then be sure to take care of the organization of good air ventilation.
Reproduction of these plants is carried out by seeds that germinate after about a month. The time from the beginning of growth to the beginning of flowering in gerbera is about 11 months. You can also propagate these flowers and by dividing the bush, usually valuable varieties are propagated at the age of 3-4 years, and you can also propagate gerberas and cuttings.
In the case of a decision to leave the plant for the next season, in winter it must be preserved at a temperature of at least 15 degrees. The most common colorings of flowers are orange and bright yellow, but other colors, such as soft pink, are also not uncommon.
Gerbera will decorate your house with bloom from May to August. In order for the plant to be healthy and develop well into the soil, it is advisable to add peat, sand, field land and pine bark.
This plant can be damaged by powdery mildew, whiteflies, red spider mites. The reasons that may contribute to this are waterlogging of the soil and poor ventilation of the room.
This plant is not an exception, and regarding fertilizers, it, like all indoor plants, requires their periodic application. For it, you need to use complex fertilizers, which include potassium, nitrogen, phosphorus, but you should not feed more than 3 times a month. If the flower develops correctly, then on one plant there can be up to 30-40 beautiful flowers.
