Cyclamen is a guest who came to our country from the Mediterranean, a flower of rare beauty. This plant, blooming in the cold season, as if brings a piece of summer and bright sun. In winter, when a snowstorm sweeps outside or severe frosts crack, the cyclamen blossoms in bright colors, as if creating its kingdom of warmth and beauty.
The flower is a tuberous plant and, unlike most houseplants, leaves for the dormant period with the onset of heat. When buying bulbs, it is advisable to choose a little germinated, having several (but not too many) buds, because cyclamen will grow for a long time and, accordingly, will bloom much later.
Cyclamen - transplant for better growthIndeed, in order for the plant to grow well, develop rapidly and bloom magnificently, it must be constantly transplanted. In a
cyclamen flower, a
transplant should be performed annually. This is due to the fact that the soil in the pot depletes quite quickly and the substrate loses its beneficial properties. In a cyclamen plant, a transplant is always carried out with a complete replacement of the earth. Also dead or rotting roots are removed.
In a flower such as cyclamen, transplantation should not be made during budding or flowering, even though the plant in the pot is pretty crowded. Be sure to wait until it fades.
Cyclamen transplantation at home, as a rule, begins with the selection of the pot and the preparation of the drainage. A flower can die very quickly from waterlogging of the soil, so you need to water it sparingly. If the plant does not have enough moisture, which is easy to notice, it will become sluggish.
Propagation of cyclamen at home is done by seed or tuber division. That first, that the second option is quite troublesome.
The seeds are soaked for about 12 hours so that their shell softens. Then they are evenly laid out in the ground and lightly sprinkled with it. Next, close with black polyethylene to protect from sunlight, cover with glass. Sprouts begin to appear after about 40-50 days. When three leaves or more appear on small tubers, the plants are planted in different pots.
By dividing the tuber, cyclamen is propagated during the dormant period. The bulb is removed from the ground and cut into several parts. A prerequisite is the presence of at least three kidneys on each lobe. About a day later, the cut tuber is dried, then the places of the sections are sprinkled with ash or another antiseptic. Shares are planted in separate pots.
If you do not want to spend such long manipulations on breeding a flower, then you can just go to the store and purchase a new flower. Cyclamen, the transplant of which must be carried out after the purchase, will certainly thank you for your care with long flowering.
Useful adviceIf your cyclamen does not bloom for long, then perhaps it is just hot. Try moving the plant to a cooler place and observe the flowering period - you will see it will become much larger.
