Sisal has long been successfully used in floristry in the preparation and design of bouquets, and recently it has become an increasingly popular material for creating crafts in various areas of applied art. It is often used in the manufacture of toys, interior decorations, and all kinds of souvenirs. In this article, we would like to share with you an interesting master class on making bright and stylish topiary using sisal material.
This "tree of happiness" is great for decorating any interior, because it creates a special cosiness and a warm pleasant atmosphere in the house.
Topiary made of sisal, a natural material made from agave fibers, looks truly fabulous! So, we begin to create this charming craft.
We make a beautiful topiary of sisal. What will be required for work?
In order to create an unusual and charming "tree of happiness", you will need to purchase some tools and materials, including:
- a ball (10 cm in diameter) made of foam;
- sisal;
- gypsum;
- polystyrene for the base;
- a twig for the trunk;
- ribbon for decorating branches;
- decorative elements (birds, butterflies, ladybugs, artificial flowers and leaves, artificial berries and fruits);
- pot;
- glue gun.
We will begin to make
topiary with our own hands from sisal by preparing a pot. We take the prepared container and place the foam in it, filling the container about halfway. This is done to lighten the weight of the product and save gypsum mortar. Carefully insert the branch into the foam. We make a gypsum mortar and pour it into the pot so that we can fix the snag securely. After we leave the workpiece alone for 12 hours, giving the gypsum a good grasp. We take a foam ball and place it on a stick, gently piercing it. For better bonding of parts we use glue. Everything, our design is ready, you can proceed to its decorative design.
Decorate sisal topiary
To decorate the trunk of our tree, we use a tape or strip of beautiful fabric. Glue one edge of the segment from below, at the base of the trunk, wrap a branch and fix the other edge of the tape from above. Now we proceed to decorate the crown of the tree. We roll the balls (4 cm in diameter) from sisal and glue them with a glue gun to the foam blank. We place them tight enough so that there are no ugly gaps in the crown. Topiary of sisal (photo provided in the article) can be made in one color scheme or be multi-colored.
It is advisable to select consumables, including ribbons, sisal, bows and other attributes so that they harmoniously combine with each other. After drying the crafts, it remains only to decorate it with beautiful flowers, butterflies, leaves, ladybirds and other decorative elements prepared in advance. Also, if desired, you can arrange with a sisal pot and "ground" under the topiary. Everything, your "tree of happiness" is ready! Now you know how to make a charming topiary with your own hands.
