The rules of the Russian language are complex and not always understood by most people. No wonder punctuation is one of the most formidable barriers. Some people, having reached old age, do not know where to put commas. The Russian language school curriculum does not always impose rules in an understandable form that is necessary for students. Therefore, it is not surprising that after graduation, many do not know what a stand-alone supplement is.
This section is for students in a Russian language lesson in grade 8. This is not to say that this topic is easy, but if you dig deeper and learn a few rules, you can easily understand this issue.
First you need to understand what a stand-alone supplement is. The word isolation itself implies that some word or phrase must be highlighted, as a rule, with commas on both sides in order to give the sentence a semantic color and emphasize what the author focuses on. Separate additions can often be found in texts that are official and journalistic in nature. In order not to be mistaken when placing punctuation marks, it is worth looking for prepositions, they will help to pinpoint a separate addition.
These prepositions include the following: in addition to, along with, instead of, except, with the exception of super, etc. Here is an example in which a separate addition will be immediately visible: "Apart from me, there was nobody in the house, only the wind drove the curtains through the window." In this sentence, “other than me” means that there was no one else, so a comma is placed to strengthen the meaning of the sentence.
If the material on the isolation of additions is precisely understood, then we can begin to study the topic of
what are separate and non-separate definitions. Here, too, everything is not as complicated as it might seem at first glance. Let's start with a simple one: if additions add a semantic color to a sentence, then the definition decrypts this meaning. Let us examine an example in which it will be clearly visible: "Small, fragile, she possessed some kind of internal strength." In this proposal there is a defining contrast of “fragile” and “strength”. Or this option: "Offended and disappointed, Paul was silent." Here is the strengthening of the state in which a person is.

In the Russian language there are many cases where isolation is required by meaning, but according to the rules, commas are not provided. In order not to get confused, it is worthwhile to carefully learn where the isolation is exactly done, and in other cases the commas will not need to be placed. Learning languages, in particular Russian, requires endurance, patience and desire, then everyone can understand and remember the rules of spelling and punctuation. But in life, especially in modern life, this can often come in handy.
