Fiery Buzulnik. Landing and care

Increasingly, in the gardens of Russian flower growers you can find such a beautiful and very unpretentious plant as a buzulnik. Landing and caring for it is within the power of almost everyone. The plant grows up to 2 m tall and immediately attracts attention with yellow-orange flowers collected in racemose, paniculate, or corymbose inflorescences. Thanks to hybrids bred by breeders, many species have now appeared, differing from each other in the shape and color of the leaves. In general, there are about 200 varieties of buzulnik.

Why have many flower growers recently acquired a buzulnik to decorate personal plots? Planting and caring for this plant is not difficult, and besides, it feels great in damp and shady places where other flowers simply do not survive. It is very interesting to watch the Buzulnik in the old overgrown gardens, where its bright yellow β€œcandles” seem to illuminate gloomy and shady areas. Yes, and it pleases the eye with its flowering, it is a lot, for about two months, and if the summer turned out to be cool, it will take even longer.

In Russia, most often you can find a cogwheel. Japan and China are considered its homeland, it grows up to one meter, has paniculate inflorescences, baskets up to 8 cm in diameter. The leaves are collected in a basal rosette, have a kidney-shaped shape. Flowering begins in August and lasts throughout the month. Most often in our gardens you can find two varieties: Buzulnik Othello and Desdemona. The first is higher, blooms for 40 days, the diameter of the inflorescences is up to 13 cm, the color is saturated orange, the leaves are very large, up to half a meter across. Desdemona is a little smaller, characterized by fiery orange inflorescences and lilac-brown leaves.

It is advisable to plant a buzulnik in partial shade, as it is shade-tolerant and shade-loving, but if it is possible to water the bush daily, the plant will feel great in open flowerbeds. Under direct sunlight, especially in very hot weather, the leaves wilt and become lifeless, but with the arrival of evening coolness, the buzulnik revives. Planting and care suggest a choice of nutritious and moist soil, it can be loamy, clay with neutral acidity. Plants feel great even on very heavy soils.

A calm and windless place is what buzulnik prefers. Planting and caring for it require regular watering, even temporary flooding is not afraid of the plant. If the air is very dry, then from time to time the bush needs to be sprayed with water. Buzulnik loves fertilizers, so when planting in a pit, you can pour humus or mineral additives. If significant temperature changes are planned at night and in the daytime, then it is better not to add top dressing at all, because this will affect the appearance of the plant.

To maintain the decorative appearance of flowers, faded inflorescences must be cut off on time, of course, if they do not need to be left on the seeds. It is not necessary to cover the plant for the winter, since it is cold-resistant, it can freeze out only in very severe frosts. Buzulnik does not need frequent transplants, on one site it can grow up to 15 years and at the same time not lose its decorative effect.
