The main types of pockets

External pockets

Perform such an item of clothing is easy. It is necessary to think over the shape and size of the part and draw it on a piece of paper, measuring 1 cm on each side of the hem of the fabric. Then the edges are bent to the middle and ironed well. Many craftswomen use an adhesive pencil so that before sewing, the fold line fits snugly against the main part. Round pocket
Such an overhead element is usually made either on women's or girl's clothes. First, they draw a pattern on paper in the form of a circle (compasses). Next, a semicircle is cut out, and the template is transferred to the fabric. Do not forget to leave around the edges 1 cm per hem. The inlet with a needle and thread is pinned. The remaining edges must be ironed by making a clear bend line.
Then the bar is cut separately and sewn to the assembled edge from the inside. It remains to stitch the front edge along the front side. In this way, the inlet is decorated and sealed. The finished pocket is attached to the main location on top of the clothes.
Valve Types and Forms
The patch pockets can be different, depending on the designer's idea. Edges are processed by a level or leaf, a turning or a slanting inlay, the separate or bent valve. There are such parts with a lining for strength, but there are simply from one layer of matter. Patch pockets are always made separately, then put together and sewn onto clothes at the end.

Such a pocket can simply be with a central internal or external fold, or it can also consist of a fold on the sides, which increases the internal volume of the part. They make it according to this pattern by folding the fabric.
Welt pocket
Such pockets are made from the inside of the product or from the main fabric, or from the lining. A variant of any decorative matter is possible, then the interior finish of the pockets will serve as an additional decoration of clothes.
They can be decorated with stitches, edged with braid, in the form of a connection between the lining and the pick. Basically, this is used in women's products. Welt pockets can have a different arrangement. This can be pockets in the seams or folds of clothing, or cut through the middle of the fabric.
The bend of the line of the inner pocket can be semicircular, even, oblique or generally curly. It all depends on the idea of the author of the clothes.
Pocket design
On men's jackets, you can often find the design of a pocket in a frame with two edging. This is a classic option for both jackets and trousers. Often, these details of clothing are often closed with overhead valves, the shape of which depends on the wishes of the master and the style of the product.
Before you make such pockets, you need to duplicate the shelf and both hem with the help of thermal cloth.
On the fabric from the inside, you need to outline the frame of this part. Then it is sewn with copy stitches so that these contours are visible on the front side. After that, you need to thread the material of the grinders into the slot and turn everything inside out. Smooth the fold line well and iron it with steam or through a damp cotton cloth. The triangle in the corners also carefully bends inward.
Further separately you need to sew the inside of the pocket from the lining or the main material. Then, from the inside, the lining is sewn first with one edge, then with the other.
It is worth noting that welt pockets can be not only straight, but also inclined, curly and completely vertical. The frame can be fastened with a button or with a zipper. Sometimes make complicated pockets. For example, on the overhead product they make another small mortise pocket in a frame with a "zipper" for storing money or small valuable parts.
Seam pocket
Of all types of pockets, this is considered the easiest to execute. It is enough to cut the inside of the part from the main or lining fabric and sew it from the inside to the hole left in the side seam. But here there are options for complication in order to additionally decorate clothes. If you look at the photo below, you can see that a simple, it would seem, pocket in the seam is decorated with an insert of contrasting fabric.
