A 2000-year-old catโ€™s footprint on a piece of Roman tile

Not so long ago, workers of the Gloucester City Museum, located in Britain, discovered the imprint of a cat's paw on an ancient Roman tile tile. As it turned out, cats and thousands of years ago were the same pests - they attacked wherever needed. It is noteworthy that the imprint was found only in 2015, despite the fact that the fragment was brought to the museum in 1969.

Roof tiles

The tiles that the Romans made were called tegula. In order to do this, it was necessary to burn clay. This material was used to create the roof of a private house, temple or public institution. Thanks to the robust construction, the roof was very strong and was not afraid of moisture.

Intended Events

It is believed that when unsuspecting hardworking Romans laid out fresh clay billets to dry in the sun, a certain feline family treacherously walked on still soft clay, leaving their marks on it forever.

This is not the first time that animals have spoiled human tools. Scientists have found footprints of piglets, dogs, or children in similar items before, but cat tracks are extremely rare. The thing is that a cat is lighter than the listed creatures, and leaving a mark on it is not so simple.

Apparently, the ancient cat tried very hard to leave its tracks on the tiles. The prints were distinct, the animal was quite heavy.

Other historical evidence of feline vandalism

In addition to the already infamous shard of shingles, there are many more objects spoiled by cats. For example, the Washington Museum has a stone slab that also has a cat footprint. One of the documents published in 1445 received an โ€œautographโ€ in the form of a paw on the title page.

Analyzing photographs from Mars made by the satellite, many users, lovers of furry predators, were able to recognize the imprint of a cat's paw in one of the potholes. He only guesses indirectly, but people with the imagination do not need much.

In the modern world, people often complain that cat tracks remain on a smooth concrete surface. One housewife said that even a cat locked in the basement broke out and โ€œsignedโ€ on the steps. Cat lovers often take various photos of the imprint of cat's paws - traces of pranks of furry pets.

Interesting observation

The most interesting thing in this situation is that, in fact, the catโ€™s footprint is not a global discovery. This is just an observation, for some people itโ€™s funny, for some it is meaningful, but for most it does not represent anything.
