Monument to Dzerzhinsky

Church ensemble on St. Tikhonovsky passage
Sights of the city of Dzerzhinsk in the Nizhny Novgorod region could not do without this holy place. The church ensemble is called for a reason, because it is represented by several churches. The first church of the complex is planed from wood; it was built in 1997. This is the first church of Dzerzhinsk related to the Resurrection Parish. It looks like a rather bright, interesting double-decker quadrangle with a symmetrical altar. This temple received the name of Tikhon.
The second church is already made of brick and is considered a more modern building. This is the Church of St. John the Baptist. Today, services are being held in it, which guests of the city can visit. And finally, the last building in the complex is the Church of the Resurrection of Christ. Unfortunately, it is not completed, but currently active work is underway to complete the construction and interior decoration.
Church of Anthony the Great
Refers to the Resurrection Parish. The main spiritual patron is Anthony the Great, an Egyptian righteous man who lived as early as 3-4 centuries. The temple is quite large, accommodates up to 300 parishioners. The land for its construction was allocated by local authorities in 2006, and the construction began at the same time.
Drama theatre
Even in such a small town has its own Drama Theater. Sights of Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod region are not only historical, but also cultural in nature. If you return to the Drama Theater, it was opened in the city in 1945, but only in 1980 received its own separate building on Peace Boulevard.

In the period from 1927 to 1929 in Dzerzhinsk, according to the standard design, 4 more similar towers were built, which later became unnecessary scrap metal due to a change in the route of power lines.
The design of the tower has been recognized more than once as the best in the structure of skyscrapers. It was taken as a basis for construction by the largest companies in Switzerland, Spain and Japan. That is why the Shukhov Tower can rightfully be called the pride of the region.
Arboretum
Sights of Dzerzhinsk in the Nizhny Novgorod Region could not do without flora and fauna. The city, as already noted, is an industrial center, rather polluted with harmful emissions and waste. That is why even a small island in the park area is appreciated by all locals and is guarded like the main attractions.
If you will rest in Dzerzhinsk or come here on a business trip, be sure to visit the arboretum. Its history began in 1951 with the active assistance of the local arborist I.N. Ilyashevich. This green corner with a fabulous atmosphere and really clean air is located in the southeastern part of the city. The arboretum reaches 15 hectares, there are quite a few rare plants.
Contact zoo
Popular sights of Dzerzhinsk could not do without a contact zoo - the main fun of children. This is not the zoo that many of us are accustomed to, or rather, not quite the same. Here you can not only look at the animals, but also stroke them.
This is a well-maintained green zone where you can mingle with raccoons, sheep, goats, horses and ponies, and watch poultry. In the contact zoo it is allowed to pet and feed animals, take photos with them. More recently, an Australian kangaroo appeared here, which became the main decoration.
Fountain "Tornado"
The light and music fountain "Tornado", decorating Lenin Square, is a favorite vacation spot of local residents in combination with a bright and noticeable landmark of the city. This water show-attraction, which appeared in 2009, was created on the basis of unique developments and innovations. Pretty vivid water effects are demonstrated to all those present under high-quality musical accompaniment. The spectacle is simply gorgeous, bewitching literally from the first minutes. The fountain looks even more impressive in the dark, when 52 floodlights illuminate it from different sides.
House with a spire
If you managed to explore the main attractions of Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod region, then it's time to go to less popular, but quite interesting and noteworthy places. For example, a house with a spire, decorating one of the city streets. This is a unique building, which is really hard to get past.
Currently, the building is painted in rich green color, which is why it has become even more noticeable. The house was built in 1955, the spire towering above the roof gives uniqueness to it. The project of A.F. Kusakin, implemented, harmoniously blended with the architecture of the city, becoming its full part and decoration. The house was repeatedly repaired and restored, at present it also needs major repairs.
Parish Lake
The reservoir is one of the largest in the entire region. Its area reaches 280 hectares and a depth of 5 meters. The karst origin of the lake is still in doubt, but most scientists are inclined to this assumption. And the reason for this is a funnel along the south coast. This is a natural monument, protected by the state. Along the coast there are many valuable and rare plants that are listed in the Red Book of the region.
