The trumpet hat came into fashion thirty years ago, since then it has not been the first time it has returned to the wardrobe of fashionistas. There is a simple explanation for this - knitting a hat-pipe is not difficult, but it suits almost everyone - both adults and children. On circular knitting needles we collect 112–120 loops and knit in a circle a pattern of elastic 2x2 or 1x1, to your liking. For children's hats, fine gum is more suitable; for adult models, you can experiment. When the height of the lapel reaches 10 cm, go to the main drawing.
Beginner knitters can continue to work with a gum pattern, it easily takes the desired shape and looks pretty pretty, for more experienced craftswomen I propose the option - a cap-hat with Irish braids.

We knit a small cap on 98–112 loops with a rapport of 14 loops. On the wrong side we knit 8, front - 6 loops, repeat 7-8 times. Front loops are also crossed into a braid in each 6 row.
When our hat reaches a length of 60 cm, close the loops loosely enough so that the edge gently fits the shoulders. Wet the finished product and pull it out slightly, dry on a terry towel, which will absorb excess moisture. If you wish, you can lightly steam the hat with a warm iron from the wrong side, having previously laid it out on a thick towel. Irish braids and aranas cannot be ironed on the front side, otherwise the pattern will lose volume.
If for some reason circular knitting does not suit you, you can knit a stylish hat in the simplest way. Type 120-140 stitches on the knitting needles, knit a straight cloth with a garter stitch. Sew the resulting square 65x65 cm as carefully as possible so that the seam is almost invisible. Turn one of the sides of the pipe into a tube and fix it in this position, wrapping it with a contrasting thread or cord. Such a hat can also be made larger, it will sag like the Angelica hood and completely cover the shoulders.
A very effective hat-pipe is obtained when knitting with melange yarn. Here you do not need any pattern, just knit a lapel with an elastic band, the rest of the product is done with front loops. So that the hat does not turn out to be too colorful, the colorings of the same color on the thread should be long enough. If a thin thread is used, for example, mohair, the needles must be selected in accordance with the recommendations on the packaging of yarn.
