Heating cable for water pipes, drains and sewers

Freezing of water supply, sewage and icing of the drain in the winter is a lot of trouble for owners of private houses. Thawing and starting engineering systems is a very time-consuming process, and the likelihood of this launch itself can be minimal in the absence of special tools or devices. To prevent such undesirable phenomena, a heating cable for pipes is used.

Water pipes

heating cable for pipes
Water pipes that go from a well or a well to a house most often have a small diameter. If they are laid deep enough, i.e. below the freezing point of the earth, then you should be afraid only of abnormal cooling. But if the pipes are buried at shallow depths or laid above the ground, then simply insulating in this case does not get off, it is necessary to think over the heating system.

In practice, the heating cable for the water supply system has a sufficiently small diameter and is easily bent, which facilitates the procedure for its installation. Often cable heating systems are used for heating pipes , which have practically no differences. One end of such heating products is insulated and tightly sealed to prevent moisture from getting inside, and the other has conclusions for connecting to the power supply network.

Installation of the heating element is quite simple and quick. A heating cable for pipes is wrapped around them in increments of about 10 cm, if the water supply is laid above the ground. If it passes underground, then the cable can not be wrapped, but simply fixed along the water supply to electrical tape or aluminum tape. Moreover, the fastening should take place in such a way that part of the cable goes to a shallow depth in the well or well, and the insulated end goes out. After the winding is completed, the entire structure is insulated. Electrical leads are connected to a temperature regulator, which will control the temperature and maintain it not lower than a predetermined level.

Sewerage and drainpipes

For sewer systems and drains, the heating cable for pipes is more rigid and much wider than for water supply. Its indisputable advantages are weather resistance and moisture resistance, due to which it most often fits directly inside sewer pipes and drains. If, for some reason, installation inside the sewer is not acceptable, then the heating cable for pipes can be laid along the drain, from below.

One end of the cable is insulated. On the other, there are wires for mounting to electricity. These heaters can be connected to electrical switches, equipped with sockets to turn on only when necessary. If it is required to maintain a constant temperature and to prevent freezing of the sewage system, then it can be connected to a temperature regulator.

drainpipe heating
Approximately by the same principle heating of drainpipes is carried out. The cable is laid inside the gutter or in a spiral approaching the roof, and the electrical leads are connected to an electric switch or an electric plug is mounted on them . When heating the drain, the heating cable for pipes is not connected to the thermostat, since the drain is located in the open air and cannot be insulated to maintain the temperature.
