Warming the house is an unusually important task. By choosing the right material, you can significantly reduce heating costs. Recently, mineral wool is most often used for this purpose. However, progress does not stand still, and manufacturers are developing more and more new materials. The most interesting of all invented recently, can be considered foam, the characteristics of which allow it to be used to warm buildings with greater success than the same mineral wool.
This modern material can be used to improve the operational characteristics of all structural elements of the house, from the foundation to the roof. For this type of work, such as insulation of swimming pools and other similar ones, foam can also be taken. The characteristics of this material allow its use both in residential buildings and in public as well as industrial. It retains heat in the room, it is about one and a half times better than
mineral wool. Moreover, it is somewhat simpler to install, does not gain moisture and is very stable when compressed.
This material is made of polystyrene by extrusion. Depending on the density, penoplex marked with numbers 31, 31C, 35C, 35 and 45 is distinguished. Technical characteristics of all these types are slightly different. However, almost all of them can be used in the construction of a residential building. The most popular can be considered penoplex, marked by the number 35. It optimally combines excellent performance and reasonable cost. The standard width of the plates is 60 cm, the length is 120.
Penoplex is a heater whose characteristics make it possible to use it in regions with very cold winters, for example, in Yakutia, the Far East, etc. These plates retain their properties completely even with a large number of defrost / freeze cycles. Even after 1000 such adverse effects, the material changes the parameters of thermal resistance by no more than 5%.
This insulation not only perfectly retains heat, but, as already mentioned above, perfectly resists moisture. The board retains its excellent performance characteristics even with very prolonged direct contact with water at any temperature. The highest degree of mechanical strength is another interesting property of a material such as foam.
Its characteristics in this regard are simply impressive. The material marked with the number 45 can carry a load of up to 65 t / m
2 without harm to itself. This allows you to use it when installing a railway track and roads.
If we talk about thermal conductivity itself, then the most excellent performance characteristics in this regard have become possible due to the fact that this material has a cellular structure. The degree of thermal conductivity in this case directly depends on the density of the foam material. The characteristics in this regard are practically unchanged with increasing thickness of the material. This is due to the peculiarities of its structure. The level of thermal conductivity, depending on the density, can thus be 0.025-0.03 W / mK.
